Opera Star Deborah Voigt to Make Provincetown Debut, 8/2

 The Art House in Provincetown, MA, headed by Mark Cortale, will present Metropolitan Opera Star Deborah Voigt in "Voigt Lessons" created by Terrence McNally, Francesca Zambello and Deborah Voigt, for one night only on August 2 at 6:30 PM. Music Direction is by Kevin Stites, and the production is Directed by Richard Jay-Alexander. "Voigt Lessons" was originally created by the Glimmerglass Opera in 2011. This performance will mark Ms. Voigt's Provincetown debut as part of the critically acclaimed Broadway @ The Art House concert series. Philip Glass & Angelique Kidjo's Orchestral Collaboration U.S. Premiere Set for Tonight

The highly anticipated U.S. premiere of Angelique Kidjo and Philip Glass's orchestral collaboration, Ife: Three Yoruba Songs for Orchestra, is set to take place tonight, July 10 with the San Francisco Symphony at San Francisco's Davies Symphony Hall, conducted by Edwin Outwater. A short excerpt of the work's world premiere with the Luxembourg Philharmonic may be found here, and a clip of Glass discussing the work on the eve of its premiere may be found here. Diane Birch, Madisen Ward & the Mama Bear and More Set for 'Soulful Summer' Lineup at Joe's Pub

This summer, Joe's Pub at The Public (425 Lafayette, NYC) welcomes a slate of artists that defy genre but share a core of unadulterated and soulful vocals. The calendar promises a season of outstanding music performances from artists ranging from jazz man Brian Blade, making his singer-songwriter debut, to indie songbird Diane Birch to NPR phenomenon Fantastic Negrito to SXSW success story and mother-son duo Madisen Ward & the Mama Bear.
