BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL National Tour at Durham Performing Arts Center

The genius of Stephen Sondheim is on display in Huntington Theatre Company's production of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, and Artistic Director Peter DuBois casts a vast array of local actors with a few Broadway veterans for a luminous spectacle. Lavish costumes and lush orchestrations counter a minimalist scenic design, and the singing and acting do justice to one of Sondheim's masterworks.

The North American Tour of the Tony® & Grammy® Award-winning Broadway hit Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, produced by Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing, officially launched at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, RI, on September 18, 2015. The run at PPAC was September 15-20, 2015, and the production is now playing at the Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham, NC from September 23 - October 4, 2015. The Old Globe opens its 2015-2016 Season with IN YOUR ARMS, a World Premiere dance-theatre musical featuring direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, Godspell, Lincoln Center Theater's The King and I and South Pacific) and original music by Tony Award winner Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once on This Island; two-time Oscar nominee for Anastasia). The production opens tonight, September 24, and runs through October 25, 2015.

The Huntington Theatre Company opens its 2015-2016 season with the Tony Award-winning musical A Little Night Music, Stephen Sondheim's most romantic and popular work, led by Tony and Olivier nominee Haydn Gwynne, as well as Broadway's Stephen Bogardus and Lauren Molina. Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois (after all the terrible things I do; Smart People; Rapture, Blister, Burn; and Becky Shaw) will direct. Performances will run tonight, September 11, through October 11, 2015 at the Avenue of the Arts / BU Theatre.

Carole King stopped by this morning's TODAY along with Chilina Kennedy, who plays King in the current Broadway production of BEAUTIFUL and Abby Mueller, who will take on the role for the show's National Tour.

NBC has announced that Carole King and the cast of BEAUTIFUL will appear on TODAY on Wedneday, September 9th between 10 -11 am.

Cassidy Janson will join the West End production of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical to play the title role from30 November 2015.   Also joining the cast will be Diane Keen as Genie Klein, King's mother.

Cassidy Janson, of London's WICKED, will take over the title role in BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL from Katie Brayben, starting November 30, 2015 at the Aldwych Theatre. 

The Kennedy Center presents the Tony & Grammy Award-winning Broadway hit Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, about the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter. The production makes its Washington, D.C. premiere at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for three weeks from October 6 - 25, 2015 in the Kennedy Center Opera House. With a book by Tony and Academy Award-nominee Douglas McGrath, direction by Marc Bruni, and choreography by Josh Prince, Beautiful features a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil.  The press opening night is Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 7 p.m.

Tonight, the Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. revealed nominations for the 2014-2015 Atlanta professional theatrical season to theatre patrons and industry artists. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by Horizon Theatre. Guest announcers included the ladies of The Weird Sisters Theatre Project: Kelly Criss, Veronika Duerr, Jaclyn Hofmann, Tiffany Porter, and Megan Rose.
