New Georges' 22nd production year will spotlight on The New Georges Jam ON TOAST at Dixon Place, a new play festival that will feature work by the New Georges Jam, a "performance gym" for early-career playwrights and directors founded at New Georges in 2010 by Lucy Alibar(Beasts of the Southern Wild), Jess Chayes (HOME/SICK) and Portia Krieger (Eager to Lose). The New Georges Jam ON TOAST will feature 19 Jammers past and present - including two playwrights receiving their first New York productions. But first New Georges will kick things off with The 1st George Sand Invitational One-Minute Play Festival, the first all-women edition of the nationwide One-Minute Play Festival, January 13th & 14th at INTAR Theatre, featuring one-minute plays by over 50 female playwrights. The '14 season will also feature a special collaboration between New Georges and Barnard College in March, New Plays at Barnard, which will bring downtown artists and the new-play experience to students at Barnard and Columbia.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults has announced casting for the upcoming production of Leveling Up by Deborah Zoe Laufer. Hallie Gordon directs a cast featuring Carolyn Braver, Jerry MacKinnon, Clancy McCartney and JJ Phillips in this Chicago premiere. Leveling Up runs February 26 - March 15, 2014; the press performance is on March 1 at 11am. Performances at 10am are reserved for school groups only; public performances are scheduled March 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 7:30pm. The One-Minute Play Festival and New Georges have created a dynamic partnership for The 1st George Sand Invitational One-minute Play Festival with part of the proceeds to benefit New Georges' indispensable workspace for women theater artists: The Room.

Parade Productions will present Deborah Zoe Laufer's The Last Schwartz from January 30th through February 23rd at the Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center's Studio Theatre.

Cherry Lane Theatre's award-winning MENTOR PROJECT for emerging playwrights will present its 16th season from February 19 to April 12, 2014 with expanded programming - the addition of a new Director Mentorship -- it has been announced by Angelina Fiordellisi, Founding Artistic Director of Cherry Lane Theatre and co-founder of MENTOR PROJECT. The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announced today that Wendy C. Goldberg, Artistic Director of the National Playwrights Conference (NPC), has renewed her contract to continue at the head of the center's founding program. The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center will celebrate its 50th Anniversary next summer, which will also mark Goldberg's 10th season as Artistic Director of the Playwrights Conference.

Critically acclaimed theatre company The Playwrights Realm presents the New York premiere of Lauren Yee's new play The Hatmaker's Wife, directed by recent OBIE Award winner Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812). The Hatmaker's Wife marks the first Playwrights Realm production at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street) in midtown Manhattan, following previous engagements in several downtown Off-Broadway venues. Previews begin tonight, August 27, for an opening Thursday, September 5.

PlayPenn, Philadelphia's professional new play development organization, will hold its ninth annual New Play Development Conference from today, July 12-28 at the Adrienne Theater (2030 Sansom Street) in Philadelphia. The Conference will feature two-and-a-half weeks of intensive work on six works-in-progress by Gabriel Jason Dean (Terminus); Lisa Dillman (No Such Thing); Deborah Zoe Laufer (Informed Consent); Peter Gil-Sheridan (Cockfight); James Ijames (A Thousand Kinds of Silence); and Joe Waechter (Profiles).
