Carmen de Lavallade's AS I REMEMBER IT to Run 2/19-25 at Baryshnikov Arts Center

As part its 10th Anniversary Spring 2015 season, Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) proudly presents the New York Premiere of Carmen de Lavallade's As I Remember It, February 19-21 and 24 at 8PM, and February 25 at 1PM in the Jerome Robbins Theater. This intimate autobiographical performance combines movement and storytelling to weave a poignant memoir of Carmen de Lavallade's extraordinary career, highlighting the legendary artist's singular place in cultural history.

New York Live Arts Sets Fresh Tracks 2014-15

New York Live Arts today announced the seven artists selected for the 2014-15 Fresh Tracks Performance and Residency Program. The 2014-15 Fresh Tracks artists are Same As Sister (S.A.S.)/Briana Brown-Tipley and Hilary Brown, Nico Brown, He Jin Jang, Niall Jones, Julie Mayo and Lindsay Reuter. These artists will present their works in the Fresh Tracks performance showcase, January 29 - 31, 2015, at 7:30pm.

Garth Fagan Dance Comes to Ebony Rep This Weekend

Ebony Repertory Theatre announced today that Garth Fagan Dance will return to Los Angeles after an absence of ten years. The company's program includes the Los Angeles premiere of excerpts from 'Lighthouse/Lightning Rod,' a collaboration of the company's Founder/Artistic Director Garth Fagan, Wynton Marsalis and California-based visual artist Alison Saar. 'Lighthouse' opened the Brooklyn Academy of Music season in 2012. Performances at the 400-seat Nate Holden Performing Arts Center (4718 W. Washington Blvd.) in Los Angeles will run this weekend, October 3-5, 2014. For more information, visit www.ebonyrep.org.

PUSH Dance Company Launches PUSHFEST This Weekend

PUSH Dance Company, under the direction of Raissa Simpson, announces the inaugural season of PUSHfest: a cross-genre (modern, ballet, hip-hop, ethnic, and multi-disciplinary) dance festival that situates 14 mid-career and emerging choreographers in two different programs at ODC Theater, 3153 17th Street, San Francisco, this weekend, September 19-21, 2014.

Daniel Ulbricht/BALLET 2014 offers an exclusive opportunity for audiences to experience some of today's most remarkable ballet dancers in the intimate Ted Shawn Theatre at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, July 16-20. New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Daniel Ulbricht directs and performs with a select ensemble of top stars including Tyler Angle, Craig Hall, Robert Fairchild, Russell Janzen, Emily Kikta, Rebecca Krohn, Tiler Peck, Georgina Pazcoguin, and Teresa Reichlen. The program is equally impressive, including Christopher Wheeldon's Liturgy, danced to Arvo Pärt's ”Fratres;” Two Hearts, a collaboration between Benjamin Millepied and composer Nico Muhly; Furiant, created by NYCB Soloist Justin Peck; Sunshine, a solo for Ulbricht by Larry Keigwin; the world premiere of Opus 19. Andante, a duet by critically acclaimed young choreographer Emery LeCrone; and the classic Fancy Free, the first ballet created by Jerome Robbins and Leonard Bernstein in 1944, which subsequently inspired the full-length musical On the Town. Cast subject to change.

BWW Interviews: Cherylyn Lavagnino

Cherylyn Lavagnino has an MFA in Dance from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, as well as a BA in Philosophy from USC. Lavagnino toured nationally as a soloist with the Pennsylvania Ballet. She has performed a range of classical repertoire and contemporary work by choreographers including Balanchine, John Butler, Hans Van Manen, and Tere O'Connor, and the diversity of these experiences has informed the dialogue between classical and contemporary in her work with Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance. Ms. Lavagnino has created over forty works in the past fifteen years, and since 2000 the platform for her choreography has been Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance. Many of those works were created in collaboration with composers Scott Killian and Jane Chung. CLD continues to support a Live Music and Dance incentive their performances. Lavagnino's choreography has been presented in New York City: by Danspace Project at St. Mark's Church, Dance Theater Workshop, Symphony Space, DanceNow/NYC, Kaatsban International Dance Center and The Joyce Theatre's 'Evening Stars' series. Ms. Lavagnino is an Alpert Award nominee for choreography and recipient of a space grant residency from the Baryshnikov Arts Center. Her choreography has been supported by the American Music Center's, Live Music for Dance grant and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council's Manhattan Creative Communities Fund.

New York Live Arts Welcomes Trisha Brown Dance Company, Now thru 4/13

New York Live Arts presents the Trisha Brown Dance Company (TBDC) in a week-long residency with performances of Son of Gone Fishin'; Opal Loop/Cloud Installation #72503; Solo Olos; and Rogues, today, April 8 - 12 at 7:30pm and April 13 at 3:00pm in New York Live Arts' Theater. In addition to the six performances, the residency will include open rehearsals, a master class, discussions and an archival exhibition in both the Live Arts building and online.
