Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents their popular Writer-Producer Speed Date on Sunday, March 4, 2018. In deference to Oscar night, the event will start one hour earlier than usual: from 4:30pm - 8:00pm at NOLA Rehearsal Studio, 244 W 54th St., 11th floor. Application is free, and you must apply prior to purchasing your spot, on sale February 24, 2018. TV One is celebrating Black History Month with a full slate of programming offerings that embody the theme, 'Represent the Dream.' The network also debuts a new short form video campaign featuring three-time Grammy Award and Academy Award winning artist, actor and social justice activist Common, which runs throughout the month of February. In the videos, Common discusses a variety of topics related to Black history and issues affecting the African American community: racism and how we can become a better nation; activism, the power of using 'our voice' and movements like Black Lives Matter; self-awareness, his heroes and what representing the dream means today, 55 years after Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic 'I Have a Dream' speech.

Darrin Kenneth O'Brien, the Canadian reggae artist known as Snow, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of 'Informer', with a completely new and re-worked recording of his worldwide nineties number one hit. The brand new version of Snow's chart-topping reggae single, now titled 'Informer 2018 (Audiofreaks Mix)', will be available on all digital music platforms Friday, January 26th on Radikal Records.

The musical THE BODYGUARD is based on the 1992 film of the same name, which is best known for Whitney Houston's cover of the song I Will Always Love You . It's rather telling that that movie is best known for a song, and that seems to have been the impetus behind relaunching as a musical. This stage version follows the plot of the movie loosely--a famous singer has a stalker which requires hiring a more disciplined bodyguard, danger and romance ensue; but the stage version relies much more on vocal talents than acting. The casting of Grammy award winner Deborah Cox is a clear signal that this is much more music focused than plot driven, but even so, walking the line between concert and musical doesn't come easy for this production, even though the performances are largely quite satisfying.

The first U.S. National Tour of the hit musical THE BODYGUARD will play at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) from January 9 14, 2018. In Providence, THE BODYGUARD is part of the Taco/White Family Foundation Broadway Series.
