TRACY LETTS' AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, winner of five 2008 Tony Awards, as well as the 2008 Pulitzer Prize, and currently starring Tony and Emmy award winner PHYLICIA RASHAD, will play its final performance on SUNDAY, JUNE 28th, 2009. It will have played 648 performances and 18 previews, surpassing The Heidi Chronicles, Master Class, The Real Thing, and Doubt, among many others, to become one of the longest running plays in Broadway history.

Retro Productions concludes their second season in residence at midtown's Spoon Theater with Mark Medoff's Off-Broadway hit When You Comin' Back, Red Ryder?. Directed by Ric Sechrest, this Drama Desk, Obie and Outer Critic's Circle award-winning drama returns to New York City for a special limited engagement, May 7-23, 2009.

Phylicia Rashad has been announced to step into the role of Violet Weston in the Broadway production of August: Osage County. Rashad will follow Deanna Dunagan and Estelle Parsons in the part and will join the show on May 26.

Shapiro, will begin an eight-week engagement this week at London's National Theatre (Lyttelton Theatre), playing November 21, 2008, January 21, 2009.

Daily Variety reports that The Weinstein Co. has acquired worldwide film rights to the Pulitzer Prize and Tony-winning play 'August: Osage County' and will produce a feature adaptation. TWC co-chairman Harvey Weinstein will join Jean Doumanian and Steve Traxler as producers of the pic, with playwright Tracy Letts doing the adaptation.
