Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter--widely recognized as a champion of new music as well as for her commitment to artistic excellence, dedication to the growth of classical music, and for her support of young artists--presents a six-concert Carnegie Hall Perspectives series throughout the 2014-2015 season, demonstrating all of her core artistic interests. Ms. Mutter champions 20th- and 21st-century violin repertoire throughout her series, including contemporary works written for her by Sebastian Currier, Norbert Moret, and Andre Previn.

San Francsico Opera Center Announces 2015 Adler Fellows

San Francisco Opera Center Director Sheri Greenawald announced today the twelve recipients of the 2015 Adler Fellowship, a multi-year performance-oriented residency offering advanced young artists intensive individual training, coaching, and professional seminars, as well as a wide range of performance opportunities. Adler Fellows are selected from the young artists who have participated in the Merola Opera Program.

Joyce DiDonato to Launch Carnegie Hall Perspectives Series, 10/26

This season, celebrated mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato curates a multi-part Carnegie Hall Perspectives series that showcases her vocal creativity and multifaceted talents, ranging from programs that include familiar and forgotten repertoire from the Baroque and bel canto eras to works by Jake Heggie written expressly for her. Her series kicks off on Sunday, October 26 at 2:00 p.m. as she sings the title role in a concert performance of Handel's Alcina alongside Harry Bicket and The English Concert.

Kahane & Tiffany's THE AMBASSADOR, Philip Glass, Nonesuch Records and More Set for BAM's 2014 Next Wave Festival

Joseph V. Melillo, executive producer of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, today announced programming for the 2014 Next Wave Festival. The festival runs from today, September 9, through December 20 and comprises theater, music, dance, film, humanities, and visual art events in the institution's three venues: the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House, the BAM Harvey Theater, and the BAM Fisher.

Thomas Adès Conducts Academy Season Finale at Granada Theatre Tonight

Thomas Adès, the brilliant British pianist, conductor, and composer who has been hailed as among 'the most imposing figures in contemporary music' (The New Yorker), will lead the Academy Festival Orchestra in its final concert of the 2014 Summer Festival season at Santa Barbara's historic Granada Theatre tonight, August 9.

Thomas Adès, the brilliant British pianist, conductor, and composer who has been hailed as among “the most imposing figures in contemporary music” (The New Yorker), will lead the Academy Festival Orchestra in its final concert of the 2014 Summer Festival season at Santa Barbara's historic Granada Theatre on Saturday, August 9. Featuring Stravinsky's dramatic and innovative ballet Petrushka (1947 version) as well as Ives' Variations on “America,” Mr. Adès' own work Polaris: Voyage for Orchestra, and “Four Sea Interludes” from Britten's Peter Grimes, the concert will begin at 8 pm. Tickets start at $15.

American Classical Orchestra's 2014-15 Season to Kick Off 9/23 With Mendelssohn; Full Lineup Announced!

On Tuesday, September 23 at 8:00PM at Alice Tully Hall, the American Classical Orchestra presents its opening night concert of its 30th Anniversary season with music that includes Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with violin soloist Krista Bennion Feeney; Beethoven Symphony No. 8 and Mozart Symphony No. 35 'Haffner'. Krista Bennion Feeney will perform the legendary Mendelssohn Concerto on a historic violin with the same configuration as that of Mendelssohn's concertmaster Ferdinand David.
