Producers Fox Theatricals and Barbara Whitman just announced casting for the first National Tour of FUN HOME, the groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning Best Musical. The tour will premiere in Cleveland at Playhouse Square October 2 - 22, 2016, as part of the Key Bank Broadway Series.

The Public Theater recently announced that Louis Cancelmi, last seen as Caliban in the Shakespeare in the Park production of The Tempest, had stepped into the company of Troilus and Cressida as Achilles, replacing David Harbour, who suffered an injury during previews and will be unable to complete the run. The play celebrates its opening tonight, August 9, after a short delay.

The Public Theater will kick off the 2016-17 season in September with a free Public Works musical adaptation of TWELFTH NIGHT, conceived by Kwame Kwei-Armah and Shaina Taub, with music and lyrics by Shaina Taub. Directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, TWELFTH NIGHT will once again feature over 200 actors and community members alongside five equity actors, including this year Nikki M. James as Viola and Jose Llana as Orsino.

Tickets for Fun Home, the groundbreaking and Tony Award-winning Best Musical, will go on sale Sunday, August 14 for the premiere Detroit engagement at The Fisher Theatre, November 29 - December 11. Tickets will be available for purchase at all Ticketmaster locations, by phone at 1-800-982-2787, and online at www.broadwayindetroit.com or www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets can also be purchased at The Fisher Theatre Box Office starting Monday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m. Ticket prices start at $39.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, on the heels of winning four Tony Awards including Best Play,The Humans will move into Broadway's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street) to extend its limited run. The Humans will play its first performance in its new home on Tuesday, August 9. It played its final performance at the Helen Hayes Theatre on July 24, and is in the midst of a two-week hiatus to allow for the move. As previously announced, the Hayes is set to undergo significant renovations beginning in August.

Broadway shows changing houses is not a totally uncommon thing, though it has happened just a handful of times over the past few years. In 2013, Mamma Mia! packed up at the Winter Garden to continue its run at the Broadhurst Theatre. Rock of Ages moved three blocks from the Brooks Atkinson to the Helen Hayes in 2011. Before that, such shows as The 39 Steps, August: Osage County, The Lion King, and Chicago did the same.
So what exactly goes into moving from Broadway's smallest theatre to a 1093-seat house? (Hint: Despite the show's apartment-style set, it's more than just cardboard boxes and a U-Haul.) Stage Manager Billy Barnes explains:

Fun Home, the groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning Best Musical, will play its final performance on Broadway on Saturday, September 10 at 8 PM, it was announced today. The show, which opened on April 19, 2015, will have played 26 preview and 582 regular performances on Broadway at the Circle in the Square Theatre (235 West 50th St) and 114 performances Off Broadway at The Public Theater.
