'Our Union Soldier's Four Wars 1840-1863' Chronicled in New Book

The Seminole War, the Mexican War, the California Indian Wars, and the Civil War were the pivotal conflicts that forged the United States into the nation that it is today. By delving into his family's past, in particular an ancestor who served in the violent yet critical decades encompassing these American wars, author David William Olien has created a unique account of a Federal soldier's distinguished experience in nearly forgotten battlefields throughout the nation, a recollection of Our Union Soldier's Four Wars 1840-1863.

Melbourne Theatre Company's RUPERT Set for WORLD STAGES Festival in Washington D.C.

Melbourne Theatre Company today announced that David Williamson's Rupert will tour to Washington D.C. to participate in the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts WORLD STAGES: INTERNATIONAL THEATER FESTIVAL in March 2014. This is Melbourne Theatre Company's first international tour and it will be the only Australian theatre company participating in this Festival.

Chichester Festival Theatre's Revised BARNUM with Christopher Fitzgerald Opens Today

Chichester Festival Theatre will unveil its temporary state-of-the-art auditorium, Theatre in the Park, with a major new production of the musical Barnum, presented in association with Cameron Mackintosh. The production will be co-directed by Timothy Sheader, Artistic Director of the Open Air Theatre Regent's Park and Liam Steel, with rising Broadway star Christopher Fitzgerald in the title role, alongside the award-winning Tamsin Carroll as Barnum's wife, Chairy.

As BWW previously reported, Barrett Foa, of TV's NCIS: Los Angeles and Broadway's Avenue Q, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Mamma Mia! and Godspell, will star as 'Harold Hill' in Connecticut Repertory Theatre's production of THE MUSIC MAN, beginning performances tonight, July 11. According to the Daily Mail, Phil Davis will play 'Fagin' in the Crucible's upcoming production of OLIVER! in Sheffield from November 29 through January 25, 2014. This will be Davis' first appearance onstage in a musical.

WICKED to Offer $25 Lottery at Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, Begin. 6/12

A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of orchestra seats will be held for WICKED, which is returning to the Marcus Center with performances from June 12-July 7. Two and one-half hours prior to each performance, people who present themselves at the Marcus Center box office will have their names placed in a lottery drum; thirty minutes later, names will be drawn for a limited number of orchestra seats at $25 each, cash only. This lottery is available only in-person at the box office, with a limit of two tickets per person. Lottery participants must have a valid photo ID when submitting their entry form and, if chosen, when purchasing tickets.

WICKED Opens Lottery for $25 Tickets at Ohio Theatre Today

A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of orchestra seats will be held for WICKED, which is returning to the Ohio Theatre with performances from today, June 5-23. Two and one-half hours prior to each performance, people who present themselves at the east entrance of the Ohio Theatre (just off State Street between the Ohio Theatre and the Sheraton) can place their names in a lottery drum. Names will be drawn 30 minutes later for a limited number of orchestra seats at $25 each, cash only. This lottery is available in-person only at the Ohio Theatre with a limit of two tickets per person. Lottery participants must have a valid photo ID when submitting their entry form and, if chosen, when purchasing tickets.
