Parsons Dance Names New Executive Director

John Krasno, a seasoned arts administrator with extensive business experience has been named the new Executive Director of Parsons Dance.

UT Theatre & Dance Sets FALL FOR DANCE, 11/17-12/1

The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance presents Fall For Dance, a collection of works by nationally acclaimed choreographers Robert Battle, David Parsons, Charles O. Anderson, and Andy Noble, November 17-18 and December 1 at the McCullough Theatre. Following the critical success of the spring showcase Catalyst, UT's award-winning ensemble Dance Repertory Theatre returns to the stage with this captivating program.

First Howard Gilman Fellow David Parsons of Parsons Dance Receives MFA from Jacksonville University

This summer, David Parsons was awarded a Master of Fine Arts from Jacksonville University. Mr. Parsons was the first recipient of the Howard Gilman Fellowship to attend the MFA program at the university. This full tuition fellowship is given to one MFA candidate each year. One of the missions of the Howard Gilman Foundation at White Oak is to nurture the artist in development. The MFA at JU nurtures the development of rigorous and refined relationships between three aspects of creative production: stimulus, practice, and analysis.

The Emelin Theatre Announces Fall 2012 Lineup

The Emelin Theatre has announced its fall 2012 season. Celebrating 40 years this November, the Emelin brings the best in live performing arts to Westchester County with its high quality and affordable programs offering a broad mix of entertainment appealing to all ages and tastes. This fall the Emelin will present award-winning musicians; family favorites; outstanding comedy and theatre; a return of classical music featuring the world-renowned Juillard String Quartet; and more.

Gotham Chamber Opera Announces 2012/2013 Season

Gotham Chamber Opera announces its 2012-2013 season of three productions, featuring two site-specific works. The season begins with GOTHAM @ LPR: ORIENTALE on October 1 and 3, 2012 at (Le) Poisson Rouge and continues with the New York Premiere of Francesco Cavalli's ELIOGABALO(1667) from March 15-29, 2013 at The Box, staged by James Marvel. The season will conclude in June with a production of Daniel Catán's 1988 opera, LA HIJA DE RAPPACCINI (Rappaccini's Daughter), in site-specific venues.

Introdans Makes US Debut at the Joyce Theatre, Now thru 5/6

While Introdans is one of The Netherlands three national dance companies, it is the only one that has never performed in the United States. This will be rectified tonight, May 1, through May 6 when the company makes its U.S. debut at The Joyce Theater with "Heavenly," a program featuring premieres by Nils Christe, Ed Wubbe and Gisela Rocha. The Joyce engagement is part of the company's 40th anniversary worldwide celebration.

Parsons Dance Holds 2012 Annual Spring Gala Tonight

Parsons Dance and Gala Chair Linda Stocknoff's 2012 Annual spring Gala, Paint it Red, honoring Nancy Browne, Parsons Dance friend and co-commissioner of 2011 premiere work Portinari, will be held tonight, Monday, April 16, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at Espace, 635 W. 42nd Street, NYC. The evening will begin with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and silent auction at 7:30 p.m., followed by a dinner, live auction, and performance by Parsons Dance at 8:30 p.m., then a full night of social dancing. Parsons Dance returns to the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center from June 6-7, 2012, with a program that includes Round My World, a new piece by David Parsons that debuted at the Joyce earlier this year, as well as the choreographer's stroboscopic masterwork Caught.
