Kino Lorber announced today that the company is acquiring North American rights to WINTER IN THE BLOOD, from directors Alex Smith and Andrew Smith (THE SLAUGHTER RULE). The film, which is based on the landmark novel by James Welch, features Chaske Spencer (TWILIGHT SAGA), David Morse (THE HURT LOCKER, WORLD WAR Z), and Julia Jones (TWILIGHT SAGA). The film had its World Premiere in Narrative Competition at the Los Angeles Film Festival and has won several awards and played at over thirty film festivals. WINTER IN THE BLOOD will open theatrically at IFC Center, New York on August 20th with filmmakers and key cast members in attendance. Los Angeles screenings and additional markets will follow in September.
Daniel Radcliffe will star in the supernatural thriller HORNS from Red Granite Pictures. The film, co-starring James Remor, David Morse, Max Minghella and Joe Anderson, will hit theaters on October 31.
Lynne Meadow and Barry Grove have announced casting for Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming world premiere of LOST LAKE, the new play by Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner David Auburn, directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan. Eligibility and award category designations for the productions under consideration this season were determined by the Drama Desk board of directors with recommendations from the nominating committee. Variety reports that Well Go USA has acquired all U.S. rights to the police drama MCCANICK, one of the final film's starring the late actor Cory Monteith. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
