FREEZE FRAME: Cast of Broadway's VIOLET Meets the Press!

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will soon present two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster in a Broadway production of Violet, directed by Leigh Silverman. Based on the short story 'The Ugliest Pilgrim' by Doris Betts, Violet features music by Jeanine Tesori and book & lyrics by Brian Crawley. Violet will be produced in association with Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, David Mirvish, Barry and Fran Weissler, Elizabeth Armstrong, and Mary Jo and Ted Shen. Dallas Summer Musicals to Welcome THE WIZARD OF OZ, 3/18-30

Dallas Summer Musicals is delighted to announce that the first North American tour of the new stage adaptation of THE WIZARD OF OZ will play March 18-30 at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Official press opening night will be Wednesday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) just announced the full cast of VIOLET. The musical will star two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster (Violet), Colin Donnell (Monty), Alexander Gemignani (Father) and Tony Award nominee Joshua Henry (Flick), and will feature Ben Davis (Preacher), Annie Golden (Hotel Singer/Old Lady), Emerson Steele (Young Violet) and Austin Lesch, Anastasia McCleskey, Charlie Pollock, Jacob Keith Watson, Rema Webb and Virginia Ann Woodruff.

WICKED Will Return to Toronto's Ed Mirvish Theatre this Fall

After breaking box office records in each of its previous three engagements, WICKED, Broadway's biggest blockbuster, will return to the Ed Mirvish Theatre this fall for a limited nine-week engagement, September 3 - November 2, 2014.

TUTS to Welcome THE WIZARD OF OZ National Tour, March 4-16

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) has announced that the first North American tour of the new stage adaptation of The Wizard of Oz will play March 4 - 16 at Hobby Center's Sarofim Hall. Click your heels together and join Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, Dorothy and her little dog Toto, as they journey through the magical land of Oz to meet the Wizard and obtain their hearts' desires. Watch out for the Wicked Witch of the West and her winged monkeys as you rediscover the real story of Oz in this fantastic musical treat for the whole family.

Breaking News: TITANIC to Sail Back to Broadway in Fall 2014; Toronto Run Begins July 22!

Producers David Mirvish and Barry & Fran Weissler just announced that the Tony Award-winning Best Musical TITANIC, with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and book by Peter Stone, will finally have its Canadian premiere in a brand new production directed by Thom Southerland. TITANIC will play a six-week engagement at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto, from July 22 through August 31. TITANIC will then berth on Broadway in the Fall of 2014.

Council for Canadian American Relations to Honor Jacqueline Desmarais and Frank Gehry at 40th Anniversary Gala, 4/30

On April 30, 2014, Jacqueline Desmarais, patron of the musical arts and benefactor of young musicians, and Frank Gehry, iconoclastic architect and design visionary, will be honored by the Council for Canadian American Relations (CCAR) at its 40th anniversary Gala dinner in New York City at the Metropolitan Club. The Honorary Gala Chairmen are The Right Honourable Brian Mulroney and Mrs. Mila Mulroney, and The Honorable Hilary M. Weston and W. Galen Weston. Audrey and David Mirvish with Lauren and John J. Veronis are the Gala Co-Chairs. The gala will host prominent dignitaries as well as leaders in business, the arts, and public life from both countries.

BWW Special: Colm Wilkinson and Ramin Karimloo Thrill Toronto in Les Miserables

If you were a passerby outside The Princess of Wales Saturday night, you might have thought there was a rock concert going on inside. The audience reaction when Colm Wilkinson, the man who originated the role of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, stepped on stage was nothing short of deafening. That level of energy continued throughout the night as Wilkinson performed alongside Ramin Karimloo, who was inspired to become a musical theatre performer after seeing Wilkinson in the original Canadian production of The Phantom of the Opera.
