The Rubin Museum will explore illusion and human perception in this year's edition of the popular Brainwave series of on-stage conversations between mind scientists and thinkers from diverse walks of life. Opening on February 6, the series will include 20 on-stage conversations, 50 film screenings, and an interactive experience in which the museum will become a Memory Palace. While illusion is usually associated with vision, the series will engage audiences through all five senses to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject.

NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' have achieved #1 finishes for the week of December 31-January 4, outscoring the ABC and CBS competition in their time periods in viewers 18-49, total viewers and all other key categories. Note that Monday and Tuesday telecasts were preempted or excluded from the weekly averages due to the New Year's holiday and that CBS's 'Late Late Show' and ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' were encores last week.

On Wednesday, January 9, 2013, ABC's JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE surged over its Tuesday time slot debut by 22% in Adults 18-49 (1.083 million vs. 887,000). In addition, 'JKL' retained nearly all of its overall audience from the prior day (92% - 2.859 million vs. 3.097 million).

Comix At Foxwoods has announced that Academy Award winner, Steven Wright, will grace the stage for one show only when he visits the Fox Theater at Foxwoods on Saturday, April 20 at 8 p.m. Tickets for this highly-anticipated show will be available for presale through Comix and Ticketmaster on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m., and regular tickets will go on sale Friday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. Fans can purchase tickets in advance for $30, $40 and $55.

The past year has taken the Steep Canyon Rangers to new heights. In March 2011, the band released its first collaborative record with Steve Martin, "Rare Bird Alert" which debuted at #1 on Billboard's Bluegrass Chart and at #43 on the Billboard Top 200. The 2013 North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival is kicking off its 13th year with a loaded line-up of local and national rising comics. The festival officially kicks off Wednesday, Jan 30 at MotorCo.in Durham with an 8 p.m. show featuring a line-up of local comics. Then the festival moves to multiple performances at DSI Comedy Theater and Local 506 in Chapel Hill through Sunday.
