Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will celebrate the spirit of the season with special holiday concerts by the all-female vocal ensemble Anonymous 4 on Dec. 9, the Grammy Award-winning Blind Boys of Alabama on Dec. 10 and the swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on Dec. 21.

The Bang on a Can All-Stars, New York's renowned electric chamber music ensemble, take the stage at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 9pm to perform the New York premieres of Louis Andriessen's Life with film by Marijke Van Warmerdam (postponed from a previous season due to the unpronounceable volcano in Iceland) and David Lang's sunray, plus Michael Gordon's for Madeline, Kate Moore's Ridgeway, three pieces commissioned by Bang on a Can from David Longstreth of the Dirty Projectors (Instructional Video, Matt Damon, Breakfast at J&M), and Lukas Ligeti's Glamour Girl.

The New Amsterdam Singers, led by Clara Longstreth, opens its 44th season with a program entitled A Child in Winter, featuring David Lang's 2008 Pulitzer Prize-winning The Little Match Girl Passion, the New York Premiere of Steven Sametz's Niño de Rosas, and works by Abbie Betinis, Morten Lauridsen, Vytautas Miškinis, and J.S. Bach's motet, Jesu, meine Freude.

Jacob's Pillow Concludes 2011 Season, Looks Forward to 2012

In March of 2011, President Barack Obama honored Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival with the National Medal of Arts at the White House. In the spring, the Pillow expanded worldwide access to dance with the launch of Dance Interactive, an online video resource and game, recently called 'priceless' and 'the closest thing the dance world has to an online museum' by Sarah Kaufman of The Washington Post.
