PLAY DEAD Comes To The Stage At The Players Theater 10/21

The New York premiere of PLAY DEAD, a new Off-Broadway thriller co-written and directed by Teller (of Penn & Teller) and co-written & performed by Todd Robbins, will begin performances at Off-Broadway's Players Theater (115 MacDougal Street at Minetta Lane) on Thursday, October 21 for an open-ended run. The official press opening is slated for Wednesday, November 10.

The 2010 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) and Royal Family Productions will present the New York premiere of Anthony Rapp in his musical Without You September 27 - October 9 at the TBG Theater, 312 West 36 Street, between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, third floor. Anthony Rapp stars in Without You, book and lyrics by Anthony Rapp, based on his bestseller Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent; music by John Keaney, David Matos, Joe Pisapia, and Anthony Rapp; featuring songs from Rent, music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson; directed by Steve Maler.

Producers Tony Ponturo and Fran Kirmser will present LOMBARDI at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre this fall starring Dan Lauria as Vince Lombardi and Judith Light as Marie Lombardi, written by Academy Award winning playwright Eric Simonson and directed by Tony Award nominee Thomas Kail. Joining Ponturo and Kirmser as special producing partner is the National Football League, marking the organization's first foray on Broadway. Book by Kevin Del Aguila with music and lyrics by Gary Adler & Michael Patrick Walker. Conceived by Marc Kessler & Ken Davenport. Altar Boyz has touring productions all over the world, throughout the United States, Korea, Hungary, Finland, Australia, Montreal, and the Philippines.

As BroadwayWorld has previously announced. Producer Scott Sanders will be bringing film and television icon Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens) will bring his signature brand of hilarious mayhem to Broadway for a special six-week limited engagement of the acclaimed stage play, The Pee-wee Herman Show.
Based on Reubens' 1981 cult classic stage production, The Pee-wee Herman Show, with new elements from the ground-breaking CBS show 'Pee-wee's Playhouse' added generously, this new production is written by Paul Reubens and Bill Steinkellner, with additional material by John Paragon. Directed by Alex Timbers (Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson), The Pee-wee Herman Show will feature music by Jay Cotton and the work of renowned puppetry artist Basil Twist. Direct from its acclaimed, sold-out run in Los Angeles, The Pee-wee Herman Show will begin its 48-performance limited run on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 and officially open on Thursday, November 11 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 West 43rd street). The engagement will run through December 5.

Artistic Director Nicholas Martin has announced the casting for the next three productions of the Williamstown Theatre Festival's 2010 Season: Our Town by Thornton Wilder, playing the Main Stage July 28 - August 8, Fifth of July by Lanford Wilson playing the Main Stage August 11 - 22, and the world premiere of After the Revolution by Amy Herzog on the Nikos Stage July 21 - August 1.

Previews will begin Thursday, September 23, 2010, following a July 22-28 engagement at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Producers Tony Ponturo and Fran Kirmser today announced additional casting as well as the creative team for LOMBARDI, coming to Broadway's Circle in the Square this fall (previews begin September 23, opening night is October 21). The cast will feature Judith Light as Marie Lombardi, Keith Nobbs as Michael McCormick, Bill Dawes as Paul Hornung, Robert Christopher Riley as Dave Robinson and Chris Sullivan as Jim Taylor.

Lortel Statues for 14 categories and 2 special awards were handed out by celebrity presenters at the 2010 Lucille Lortel Awards at a live awards ceremony last night, May 2, at Terminal 5. Hosted by the Off-Broadway League, the live show was co-hosted by Bryan Batt and Bebe Neuwirth and featured performances by Alan Menken, STOMP, Seth Rudetsky, Edward Watts of The Fanasticks and LaChanze. BroadwayWorld was backstage at the ceremony to capture the evening's award-winners and ceremony participants!
