Keith David to Star in Ebony Rep's PAUL ROBESON, 3/12-30

Ebony Repertory Theatre (ERT - Founder/Producer Wren T. Brown) announced today that they will present Phillip Hayes Dean's (Drama Desk-winner for The Sty of the Blind Pig) powerful and moving play PAUL ROBESON. Dean will also stage the ERT production, which will mark his Los Angeles directorial debut. Mr. Brown further announced that two-time Emmy Award-winner Keith David (Fox's upcoming new series Enlisted) will star in this one-man play, with music. Performances will run March 12 - 30, 2014 with an official press opening on March 14 at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center (4718 West Washington Boulevard) in Los Angeles.

Savion Glover and Lizz Wright Star in THE ELLINGTON/STRAYHORN NUTCRACKER Today at NJPAC

NJPAC will welcome Newark's own virtuosic tap dancer Savion Glover for a special holiday presentation featuring the music of Duke Ellington today, December 8 at 4 pm in Prudential Hall. Glover, who holds the unofficial title of Newark's tap master, will be joined by singers Lizz Wright and Priscilla Baskerville, the David Berger Jazz Orchestra, and Dance Theater of Harlem students. Adding to this magical afternoon -- 48 students from the Arts High Advanced Choir will perform David Berger's arrangement of Ellington's 'Sing Out'.

Finn Wittrock, David Schramm & More Set for HOLIDAY Staged Reading, 12/16

The Acting Company will present a benefit staged reading of Holiday by Philip Barry at 7 pm on Monday, December 16 at the Mainstage Theater (at Playwrights Horizons), 416 West 42nd Street (9th-10th Avenues). The performance-starring Acting Company Founding Member David Schramm (Finian's Rainbow, TV's Wings), Carson Elrod (Peter and the Starcatcher, Noises Off), Andrew Hovelson (Lucky Guy, Enemy of the People), Liv Rooth (Venus in Fur, Born Yesterday, Is He Dead?), Danielle Skraastad (All My Sons), Brendan Titley (Macbeth), Finn Wittrock (Death of a Salesman), Acting Company Alum Georgia Cohen, David Quay and Victoria Mack-will be followed by a reception with the cast and director,Janet Zarish, Head of Acting, Graduate Acting Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and an Acting Company Alumna. The 24th Annual LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards, celebrating theatrical excellence and achievement during the 2013 season, were presented on Sunday, November 3 at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse Thirty-five awards were bestowed upon 13 different Southern California theatre companies. Leading the pack with 12 was Center Theatre Group (seven for The Nether at the Kirk Douglas Theatre; three for Joe Turner's Come and Gone at the Mark Taper Forum; one for The Scottsboro Boys at the Ahmanson Theatre; and one for The Royale at the Kirk Douglas Theatre). CTG was followed by 3-D Theatricals with five awards (four for Parade and one for Shrek the Musical). The Chance Theater and La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts took home three awards each (including Best Season for La Mirada); Circle X Theatre Company, the Fountain Theatre, and the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble tied with two each. The Acting Company Brings HAMLET to Harris Center Tonight

'To be, or not to be - that is the question' addressed by the Tony Award-winning Acting Company as they bring their newest production, William Shakespeare's Hamlet, to the Harris Center/Three Stages. According to the New York Times 'The Acting Company endures as the major touring classical theater in the United States.' This will be the first production of Hamlet in The Acting Company's 41-year history.

Acting Company's HAMLET Headed to Gallo Center Today

The Acting Company of New York will return to the Gallo Center for the Arts with William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' today, October 13, at 4 pm. The company last visited the Gallo Center in 2012 with 'Of Mice and Men,' performing before a capacity audience.

Starr Quality Benefit Set for 11/21 to Honor Hollywood Sheet Music's Rick Starr

One night only - Please help salute renowned musicologist Rick Starr, former manager of the legendary Hollywood Sheet Music. Rick was a pillar of the entertainment community who offered his expertise in classic popular song and theatre music to scores of singers. All proceeds will be donated to The Actors Fund. Directed by David Galligan, celebrated director of the famed annual S.T.A.G.E. Benefit Concert Series. Musical director, Tom Griep, along with Randy Landas on bass and Denise Fraser on drums, leads an outstanding line-up of performers singing songs chosen for them by Rick. All proceeds will benefit The Actors Fund.

Nathan Lane, Harold Prince, Angela Lansbury, Laura Osnes, Harriet Harris, Kate Burton, Kristine Nielsen, Alfred Uhry will salute actress Dana Ivey and arts patron Barbara Fleischman at The Acting Company's Gala on Monday, October 21 at Capitale. Ms. Fleischman will be presented the Warburg Humanitarian Award for her outstanding philanthropic endeavor and support of the arts. Harriet Harris (Cinderella) and Barclay Collins are Gala Chairs, Nathan Lane (The Nance) and Hal Prince (21 Tony Award winner) will present the awards; Stephen DeRosa (Boardwalk Empire) will host, Laura Osnes (Cinderella) will perform. Tributes will be offered by a host of celebrities. Three hundred guests complete an industry-filled audience of producers, directors, entertainers and other notables including TheHonorable Thomas Kean, record producer Clive Davis, playwrights Alfred Uhry and Elizabeth Egloff, actresses Angela Lansbury (upcoming in London's Blithe Spirit), Debra Monk (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), Kate Burton (Scandal), Kristine Nielsen(Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike) and Patricia Conolly, directors Nicholas Martin (Vanya and Sonia and Masha an Spike),Jack O'Brien (Macbeth), Mark Lamos (Harbor) and Walter Bobbie (Venus in Fur) and producers Jack Viertel, James Houghtonand Edgar Lansbury.

The Acting Company Brings HAMLET to Northridge's Valley Performing Arts Center

A unique, three-generation collaboration brings professional actors, college students and high school drama classes together in a week-long Shakespeare immersion that culminates in a professional performance of HAMLET by the world famous Acting Company, at California State University Northridge's Valley Performing Arts Center.

John Rando to Direct Acting Company's ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD in Rep, Begin. Jan. 2014

John Rando (Urinetown, A Christmas Story, Lincoln Centers's Carousel, All in the Timing) will direct Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead for The Acting Company," announced its producer, Margot Harley. Tom Stoppard's TONY-winning play will run off-Broadway in rotating repertory with Hamlet, directed by Ian Belknap, beginning in January 2014. Prior to New York, Hamlet will play a fall tour of western states beginning at Cal State-Northridge. A national tour of both plays, including an extended stay at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, begins in February. This is the 41st season and tour for The Acting Company, the sixth tour in association with the Guthrie.
