Signature's THE PAINTED ROCKS AT REVOLVER CREEK Begins Tonight

Signature Theatre has announced a one week extension for the world premiere of The Painted Rocks at Revolver Creek, written and directed by Athol Fugard. The production begins performances tonight, April 21 and will now run through June 7 with a May 11 opening night in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

TDF Hosts Special Performance of THE HEIDI CHRONICLES to Benefit Open Doors Today

Today, April 18th, TDF will host a special reception and performance of The Heidi Chronicles to celebrate the show's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein, and to raise funds for the arts education program she co-founded, TDF's Open Doors. Open Doors, now in its 17th year, is the first arts education program to be awarded a special Tony Honor for 'Excellence in the Theatre.'

Ford Foundation Names OSF's Bill Rauch Distinguished Visiting Fellow

?Oregon Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Bill Rauch has been named a Distinguished Visiting Fellow under a new effort by the Ford Foundation centered on the roles art and culture play in illuminating and addressing urgent issues of equity, opportunity, and justice in the U.S. and around the globe. The yearlong exploration, The Art of Change, reaffirms the central importance of creativity and cultural expression to healthy societies at a time when they are increasingly under threat.

TBTB to Host Gala Celebrating THE UNEXPECTED GUEST & Founding Artistic Director, 4/19

Theater Breaking Through Barriers (TBTB) celebrates the 35-year legacy of its Founding Artistic Director Ike Schambelan and the opening night of its current production, Agatha Christie's rarely seen 1958 thriller THE UNEXPECTED GUEST, with a gala benefit on Sunday, April 19. The performance begins at 6:00pm at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre (410 West 42nd Street). A reception with the cast, TBTB members, and special guests follows the performance, at 8:30pm, at Playwrights Horizons (416 West 42nd Street).

AFTER THE REVOLUTION Begins This Weekend at Chance Theater

Chance Theater is delighted to present the Southern California premiere of powerful drama about a fragmented family After The Revolution. Written by Pulitzer finalist Amy Herzog (4,000 Miles), and directed by Chance Theater Founding Artistic Director Oanh Nguyen. After The Revolution will preview from April 10 through April 17, regular performances will begin April 18 and continue through May 10 on the Main Stage at Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken theater arts Center.

East West Players to Open The Who's TOMMY on 5/13

East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest-running professional theatre of color in the country and the largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work, continues its 50th Anniversary Season, Golden, with 'The Who's TOMMY,' Music and Lyrics by Pete Townshend, Book by Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff, Additional Music and Lyrics by John Entwistle and Keith Moon. 'The Who's TOMMY' was originally produced on Broadway by Pace Theatrical Group and Dodger Productions with Kardana Productions. The production is directed by Snehal Desai (EWP's 'A Nice Indian Boy') with musical direction by Marc Macalintal (EWP's 'Chess,' 'Krunk Fu Battle Battle') and choreography by Janet Roston (Ovation Award and NAACP Award winner for 'The Color Purple' at Celebration Theatre). Generous support for this production is provided by the S. Mark Taper Foundation Endowment for East West Players.

Bay Area Playwrights Festival Partners with Tides Theatre

Playwrights Foundation has announced a partnership with Tides Theatre as the new home for our annual Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF), now in its 38th year, which will run July 17-27, 2015 at the 90-seat theater in the heart of San Francisco's Theater District.
