Dancer/choreographer Kyle Abraham brings his company Abraham.In.Motion to Jacob's Pillow, America's longest-running international dance festival, August 11-15. Abraham, called a dancer of 'equal parts power and grace' by Steve Sucato of Dance Magazine, has performed with David Dorfman Dance, Nathan Trice/Rituals, and the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. He founded Abraham.In.Motion in 2005 to focus on his own choreography, which deals with issues of personal and global importance. The company will perform excerpts from The Radio Show, which explores the function of radio and memory in urban history, culture, and community; Inventing Pookie Jenkins, a solo for Abraham that deals with perceptions of masculinity and identity; and Op. 1, a world premiere inspired by the photography of Eadweard Muybridge, co-commissioned by Jacob's Pillow and created in part during a Pillow Creative Development Residency.

Manhattan dance space organization Dance New Amsterdam may be evicted because of its inability to pay rent, the New York Times reports. Dance New Amsterdam's executive director, Catherine Peila, told the Times that Dance New Amsterdam owes over half a million dollars in rent and added, 'With the high rent and the recession, we didn't earn enough money to pay the rent. The arts community should really be revved up: we serve 8,000 students, we employ 250 people a year and we moved to Lower Manhattan to revitalize the area.' Peila also told the Times that the organization hopes to meet with landlord Fram Realty and with cities agencies and to come to an agreement for lower rent.

Jacob's Pillow announces its 2010 full season calendar, including more than 200 free performances, talks, photography exhibits, tours, and events. Free event highlights include the Blake's Barn exhibit Lois Greenfield: Imagined Moments, featuring Greenfield's signature dance photography, and 'Let's Dance!' a new community event on July 4 with free dance classes and workshops for teens and adults. PillowTalks, held Thursdays at 5pm and Saturdays at 4pm, include Virginia Johnson, recently named Artistic Director of Dance Theatre of Harlem (June 24), choreographer/director Bill T. Jones (July 22), and the return of Pulitzer Prize winner Jules Feiffer (July 31). Inside/Out performance highlights include the all-female hip-hop group Decadancetheatre (July 7), the dancers of The School at Jacob's Pillow's first ever Tap Program (July 10), alumnus of The School at Jacob's Pillow and Artistic Director of his own ensemble, Avi Scher (July 23), and ¡Flamenco Revolución! (August 27).

Producer Scott Sanders announced today that film and television icon Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens) will bring his signature brand of hilarious mayhem to Broadway for a special six-week limited engagement of the acclaimed stage play, The Pee-wee Herman Show.

After well received performances in New York and Washington DC, Los Angeles dance artist Lionel Popkin brings his latest work to REDCAT, featuring the original ensemble of Carolyn Hall, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Peggy Piacenza, Popkin, and a trio of musicians including composer Robert Een. Performances of There Is An Elephant In This Dance will take place at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater on Thursday, May 20, 2010 and run through Sunday, May 23, 2010.
