The LA Opera Presents West Coast Premiere of THE GHOSTS OF VERSAILLES, 2/7-3/1

LA Opera General Director Plácido Domingo announced updated details for the west coast premiere of John Corigliano's magnificently haunting 1991 opera,The Ghosts of Versailles, which receives its long awaited west coast debut on February 7 as the initial production of LA Opera'sFigaro Trilogy. Featuring a libretto by noted playwright William C. Hoffman, the opera is presented in a new production directed by Darko Tresnjak, a 2014 Tony Award winner, and it will be conducted by LA Opera Music Director James Conlon.

TAMBURLAINE, PARTS I and II Opens this Sunday at Theatre for a New Audience

Christopher Marlowe's 1587 epic Tamburlaine, Parts I and II, edited and directed by Olivier Award-winner Michael Boyd and starring John Douglas Thompson, opens Sunday, November 16, at 1:00pm at Theatre for a New Audience, Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place.

HERO Theatre to Present WAITING FOR LEFTY

HERO Theatre announced an upcoming presentation of 'Waiting for Lefty' by Clifford Odets that will be featured in a production titled 'An Evening of Clifford Odets: Waiting for Lefty and other Odets Classics.' 'Waiting for Lefty' will be featured in its entirety alongside scenes from Clifford Odets favorites 'Golden Boy,' 'Awake & Sing' and 'Paradise Lost.' It will be directed by Korey Jackson. The show dates are January 23, 24, 25, 30, 31 and February 1st. It will be presented at the Rosenthal Theater at Inner-City Arts in Los Angeles, CA.

For his first directing project since winning the 2014 Tony Award, Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak will helm Shakespeare's masterpiece, Hamlet, playing only four weeks, from tonight, October 16 to November 16, at Hartford Stage. Hamlet follows three popular Shakespearean productions in the last two years by Tresnjak: The Tempest, Twelfth Night, and last season's Macbeth.

Tony Winner to Join 2014's 'Best Musical' A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER

It was announced today that Tony Award-winner Carole Shelley will join the cast of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, which won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Musical. She will be stepping into the role of Miss Shingle on October 28th. Jane Carr, who originated the role, will play her final performance on October 26th.

Hartford Stage to Offer New Lunchtime Acting Classes this Fall

Hartford Stage will offer a lunchtime acting class for beginners - a unique way to polish public speaking and presentation skills - in September. The ten-week course will be held on Wednesdays, starting September 3 and running through November 5, at Hartford Stage Rehearsal Studios at 942 Main Street from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.

SPARTACUS Star Nick Tarabay Joins HERO Theatre

HERO Theatre announced Nick Tarabay, best known as "Ashur" on the television drama Spartacus, has joined their resident acting ensemble. Spartacus originally on STARZ, has recently been acquired by the SyFy Network.

MTI Acquires Licensing Rights to A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER

Theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) has secured licensing rights to Broadway's newest Tony Award-winning BEST MUSICAL, A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER. GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE was the most-nominated show of the season, with 10 nominations and the winningest new show, taking home 4 Tonys (BEST MUSICAL, BOOK, DIRECTION, COSTUMES).
