Earlier this week I posted how I voted for this season's Outer Critics Circle Awards, so now here are the picks from my ballot for the Drama Desk Awards, which will be presented Sunday night.

The 58th Annual Drama Desk took place last night, May 19th at Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street), and miserable rain didn't stop the festivities. Some of the stars skipped the red carpet to avoid the weather and took shelter under the marquee of Town Hall. BroadwayWorld brings you photos of the dry attendees below!

Miserable rain didn't stop the red carpet last night at the 58th Annual Drama Desks, because neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these performers (or our photographer) from the swift completion of their appointed rounds. Check out photos below from the rainy red carpet!

The Constitution is the only document you get more knowledge of it, the drunker you get.  Why?  It was written during a four month drunken binge. The bills from those days show thousands of dollars in wine, port, beer.  They were all drinking.

The 58th Annual Drama Desk awards will take place on May 19th at Town Hall and this morning, the nominees were announced!

ReGroup opened SUCCESS STORY by John Howard Lawson, the 4th play ever performed by the Group Theatre at The Robert Moss Theatre, 440 Lafayette St on Wed March 6th. It will now play through the 24th of the month, and runs in rep with Lawson's farce LOUD SPEAKER. This is the first time these plays have been seen in generations. The ReGroup Theatre Company is now presenting two powerful plays Off-Broadway by playwright John Howard Lawson, Success Story and Loud Speaker, as part of their "Reclaiming Names: The John Howard Lawson Revival" series. Both shows are at the Robert Moss Theater at 440 Lafayette Street in Manhattan and are running from March 5th through March 24th. Neither of these plays has been produced in New York City in decades.

Freely inspired by Victor Hugo's novel, equal parts horror, comedy, and romance, THE MAN WHO LAUGHS is a 'live silent film,' performed in grayscale with live music, about a man whose face has been carved into a permanent smile and his desperate quest for the world to take him seriously. Hugo's character of Gwynplaine, "the laughing man", inspired the creation of Batman's infamous nemesis, The Joker.

Burning Coal Theatre Company will close its 15th season with the world premiere of Jude the Obscure, Parts 1 & 2 by Ian Finley, with music and lyrics by Thomas Hardy, Bruce Benedict, Jerome Davis and Jonathan Fitts. The production will run April 12 - May 5, 2012 at the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm (April 12 - 14, 19 - 21, 26 - 28 and May 3 - 5, 2012), Saturdays at 2 pm (April 21, 28 and May 5, 2012) and Sundays at 2 pm (April 15, 22, 29, 2012). Sunday, April 15 (Part 1) and Sunday, April 22nd (Part 2) at 2 pm are our 'Pay What You Can' days. Those performances will also be Audio Described.
