The Canadian Opera Company's 2018/2019 season presents the world premiere of Hadrian, a new opera from composer Rufus Wainwright and librettist Daniel MacIvor, which features the highly anticipated COC debuts of international opera stars Thomas Hampson and Karita Mattila.

Primal Forces (www.primalforces.com) explores today's cultural divide with the provocative play, Communion by Daniel MacIvor. The GLAAD-winning production features a lesbian psychiatrist, an alcoholic and her evangelical daughter who form a tense triangle. MacIvor's examination of women in modern-day society stars Jacqueline Laggy, Kim Ostrenko and Jenna Wyatt and is directed by Keith Garsson. Communion opens January 24, 2018 at Empire Stage.
Expect Theatre's PlayME - the podcast that transforms Canadian plays into audio dramas - announces the launch of the PlayME Network, a new broadcast arm that will partner with some of Canada's leading theatre companies from across the country. PlayME Network will feature shows from PlayME partners' regular seasons, transformed into audio dramas. Founding PlayME Co-Artistic Directors Laura Mullin and Chris Tolley are pleased to announce that the inaugural PlayME Network partners are Toronto's Tarragon Theatre, Factory Theatre and The Musical Stage Co.; Ottawa's Great Canadian Theatre Company; Edmonton's Citadel Theatre and Newfoundland's Artistic Fraud.
Urban Stages, Frances Hill, Founding Artistic Director, will kick-off its 34th season with the World Premiere of Zhu Yi's A DEAL, directed by John Giampietro. The Chicago premiere of HIS GREATNESS, Daniel MacIvor's 'potentially true' story of two days late in the life of playwright Tennessee Williams, has scheduled additional performances for Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18. Pride Films and Plays Executive Director David Zak, who also directs the production, made the announcement today. Since the production's opening on October 17, it has received rave reviews from critics and audience members alike, prompting the company's decision to add performances to meet demand.

Theatre East honored Richard Mawe with the 2017 Laurette Taylor Award on Monday, May 15th in New York City. Richard Mawe, an ardent supporter of the arts, served for decades as a teacher and Board President at HB Studio where he studied with Herbert Berghof and Uta Hagen.
