Last night, April 28, at the Four Seasons San Francisco, more than 380 people celebrated Tony Award-winning Berkeley Repertory Theatre with actor Rita Moreno, who hosted an evening for theatre lovers, gourmands, and philanthropists. Moreno entertained the crowd with a series of songs and jokes. A gala held each year to benefit Berkeley Rep, ONSTAGE raised more than $510,000 to support the nonprofit's artistic efforts and its education and outreach programs for the local community.

Last night, more than 360 people gathered to celebrate the neighborhood playhouse with the national reputation: theatre lovers, gourmands, and philanthropists stepped into the spotlight at ONSTAGE, a theatrically delicious feast held on the 43rd birthday of the Tony Award-winning Berkeley Repertory Theatre.
The Andrews Living Arts Studio (ALA) is proud to present its third theatrical production, the critically acclaimed drama, The Laramie Project. Written by Moises Kaufman and members of his collective, the New York-based Tectonic Theater Project, this compelling piece is based on the slaughter of Matthew Shepard, a student at the University of Wyoming, who was a victim of a hate crime fueled by homophobia. The play draws on hundreds of interviews conducted by the theatre company with town citizens, company members' own journal entries and published news reports. It is divided into three acts, and an ensemble portrays more than sixty characters in a series of short scenes.
