After receiving the PCTF Award for outstanding lyrics, & nominations for Outstanding, Direction, Script & Production in 2015, Katherine Brann Fredricks helms a cast of seven, including Laurel Caruso, Darilyn Castillo*, Carlos Martin*, Toni Martin*, Damian Norfleet*, Jody Reynard*, and Nicholas Sotack*. Six performances of NIX will be staged at the Paradise Factory, Upstairs Theatre, 64 E. 4th St., NYC from June 21-July 9 as part of The Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. The Festivity will take place June 13 - July 10 at the Paradise Factory in New York City.

Passage Theatre (June Ballinger, Artistic Director; Damion A. Parran, Managing Director), Trenton's only professional theater, won the 2015 Barrymore Award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Play for last season's runaway hit Little Rock. The awards, which honor excellence in theatre, was presented on November 2, by Theatre Philadelphia.
This evening, in a celebration attended by almost 750 theatre artists, staff, critics, and friends, Theatre Philadelphia distributed 26 awards at the 2015 Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre - now in its second successful season since relaunching in fall 2013. This one-night-only concert event will be Saturday, June 27th at 8pm. The evening features the world premiere performance of 12 'micro-musicals' created in Prospect's 2015 Musical Theater Lab. Each of these original, hot-off-the-presses musical theater shorts runs under seven minutes, and has been inspired by a number -- one through twelve -- creating a song cycle collectively written over the lab's month-long time span by participating composers & lyricists.

The concert performances will take place on Thursday, November 13 at 7:30PM at the Concert Hall of the Performing Arts Center at Adelphi University (1 South Ave, Garden City, NY 11530), with a second performance on Saturday, November 15 at 8PM in the Great Room at AOP's South Oxford Space (138 S Oxford Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217). Composed by Sidney Marquez Boquiren with a libretto by Daniel Neer, the opera will include performances by baritone Jorell Williams, and tenor Brandon Snook. Damian Norfleet will act as stage director, while Mila Henry will provide music direction and piano.

Prospect Theater Company (Cara Reichel, Producing Artistic Director / Melissa Huber, Managing Director) announces a one-show-only concert reading of their original musical The Flood, on Saturday, October 19th at 3pm. First developed by Prospect in 2000-2001, with a subsequent full production in 2006, the book, music and lyrics of this new musical are by founding company members Peter Mills and Cara Reichel. This special encore concert presentation will raise funds to support Prospect's work developing new musicals by emerging writers. The concert is directed by Cara Reichel and music directed by Daniel Feyer.

The 2013 NYMF's Next Broadway Sensation Competition returns for its eighth year, continuing at New World Stages (340 W. 50th Street) through October 11. NYMF held open auditions for Season 8 of the annual talent contest. Nearly 200 hopefuls turned out to compete for the title of NYMF's Next Broadway Sensation, and the field was narrowed down to 20 semifinalists, who competed in two heats at New World Stages.

Director Lawrence Thelen proves himself up to the challenge, however, with the casting of terrific nonEquity actress Sheniqua Denise Trotman from Huntsville, AL. Her 'I'm Not Going' puts focus on the emotional pain felt by the character and is a powerhouse exploration of the lyrics. In between all that belting. Kudos.
