The Night of a Thousand Gowns celebrating the LGBT community - the colorful cross-dressing segment of that community -took place on Saturday, March 31 in New York City. In its twenty-six year history, the Court has donated over a million dollars to worthy LGBT, HIV/AIDS and youth enrichment related causes. This year the Night of a Thousand Gowns raised important funds to benefit PFLAG NYC and New Alternatives. BWW was there to cover this event. Check out the red carpet photos below!
The Imperial Court of New York has announced that Mike Ruiz, LGBT advocate and renowned photographer, will receive the Imperial Diamond Award at the 26th Annual Night of a Thousand Gowns on March 31, 2012 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. Ruiz will accept the Award for service to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

This year the Night of a Thousand Gowns expects 1,000 attendees to raise important funds for the Ali Forney Center and the Trevor Project.
On Monday June 9th, 2008 amfAR presented Honoring with Pride: Honoring Jerry Mitchell: A celebration of the gay and lesbian community's response in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The event featured Taylor Dayne and was hosted by Mario Cantone. In addition to Jerry Mitchell the event honored Julie Davids and the company Kiehl's Since 1851.
