The 27th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards were handed out last night, May 6, 2012 at NYU Skirball Center, in a ceremony that once again benefited the Actors Fund and honored the best of Off Broadway. id Theater returns to McCall, Idaho for the 12th Seven Devils Playwrights Conference, June 11-23, sponsored by the Alpine Playhouse. Playwrights, actors and directors from around the country will travel to McCall and, working with local artists and students, develop ten new plays that will be presented to the public free of charge. Since 2001, the Conference has developed more than 100 new plays by some of the most exciting voices in American Theater.

The Off-Broadway League today announced the confirmed performers for the 2012 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. Additionally, the remaining tickets to the show have been released for sale to the public at a discounted rate of $35 each. The 27th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards will be handed out this Sunday, May 6, 2012 at NYU Skirball Center, beginning at 7:00pm EST, in a ceremony that will once again benefit the Actors Fund.

I cant even put it into words- I'm so flored by the company that I'm with- my fellow nominees, I guess you call them. I've admired them for years and it blows my mind. It's been a year of working hard and to see it come to this level is unreal. It hasn't hit me yet!'

Over 20 years in the making, singer songwriter Glen Hansard will release his first ever solo album, Rhythm and Repose, on Anti- Records June 19. Best known for his work with The Frames, The Swell Season and in the feature film Once, for which he won an Academy Award, Rhythm and Repose is Hansard's debut solo album and first album of new material since his 2009 release Strict Joy with The Swell Season. The album will be available for pre-sale at the Anti Store. In recent months Hansard has been seen in the documentary The Swell Season which has toured the film festival circuit this year, contributed two songs to the blockbuster soundtrack, The Hunger Games, and been active in the promotion of Once, The Musical which successfully opened on Broadway on March 18. The cast of ONCE, the critically acclaimed new musical based on the 2007 Academy Award-winning film, will appear on NBC's "Today" on Friday, April 6 in the 10AM hour. ONCE currently plays on Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45th Street). The production opened to raves on Sunday, March 18, 2012.
Before the audience members began to take their seats for the Off-Broadway premiere of Once this past December, members of the press were already sent an email announcing that the production would be moving to Broadway following its limited run at the New York Theatre Workshop. Thus, the fact that the critical response to the show supported such a move seemed superfluous.
