On May 21 & 22, film and TV star Erich Bergen kicked off the Memorial Day weekend with the Los Angeles debut of his new show 'Erich Bergen - Live!' which sold out its two-evening engagement at Catalina Bar & Grill in Hollywood. BWW has confirmed today that NBC will host an open casting call for 'Dorothy' in THE WIZ LIVE in NYC next month.

In honor of this week's big casting coup coming in the form of original Dorothy Stephanie Mills joining the cast of NBC's live musical presentation of THE WIZ later this year, titled THE WIZ LIVE!, today we are posing some possible casting suggestions that line up with the thoughtful and affectionate choice of Mills as Auntie Em by taking a look at some of the other original leads and stars associated with the property who could be perfect fits for the live telecast as well as some familiar faces who would be ideally cast in the Oz-centric musical spectacular. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will present a concert presentation of the musical created within the NBC TV series 'Smash,' Bombshell, with music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, co-directed by Joshua Bergasse and Scott Wittman with choreography by Joshua Bergasse. The one-night only landmark event benefitting The Actors Fund is set for Monday evening, June 8, 2015 at The Minskoff Theatre (1515 Broadway). Now, according to a recent tweet from Zadan, the show officially will get an audio nor video recording. He writes: 'Unfortunately, it's a one night only event. There will be no recording. '
