AMC today announced that it has greenlit “Pantheon,” an ambitious one-hour animated drama based on a series of short stories by Ken Liu about Uploaded Intelligence, or, human consciousness uploaded to the 'cloud.' Craig Silverstein (“Turn,” “Nikita,” “Terra Nova”) will serve as the series writer/creator and showrunner, Ken Liu will serve as a consulting producer and the independent Emmy-award winning animation production company, Titmouse is also attached. Produced by AMC Studios, AMC has placed an initial order for two seasons of the speculative fiction series, consisting of eight one-hour episodes each.

Netflix has released the trailer for their new film Uncorked. Written and directed by Prentice Penny (Insecure), and starring Mamoudou Athie, Courtney B. Vance, and Niecy Nash, Uncorked is a hilarious and touching drama about a father and son who have to finally learn to listen to one another.

National Geographic, with Fox 21 Studios and Imagine Television Studios, announced today that Grammy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated musician Raphael Saadiq has been tapped to serve as executive music producer on GENIUS: ARETHA. Saadiq is responsible for producing, arranging and recording all of the original song elements within the series featuring live performances. The score will be written and produced by multi-Grammy Award-winner and Academy Award nominee Terence Blanchard ('Harriet,' 'BlacKkKlansman').

AMC announced today from the Television Critics' Association (TCA) Press Tour that Emmy® Award-winner Courtney B. Vance (The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Lovecraft Country, Genius) will star in its upcoming thrilling courtroom drama 61st Street, from BAFTA-winner Peter Moffat (Criminal Justice, The Night Of, Your Honor) and executive produced by Michael B. Jordan and Alana Mayo of Outlier Society (Just Mercy, David Makes Man). Produced by AMC Studios, the series, which has been ordered as a two-season television event with eight episodes per season, is set to debut in 2021.

National Geographic, with Imagine Television Studios and Fox 21 Television Studios, announced today that the Emmy- and Tony Award-winning actor Courtney B. Vance ('The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story') will star opposite previously announced Cynthia Erivo ('Harriet,' Broadway's 'The Color Purple') as Aretha Franklin in the next installment of the Emmy-winning global anthology series GENIUS: ARETHA. Additionally, Suzan-Lori Parks ('Topdog/Underdog') will serve as showrunner and executive producer and Anthony Hemingway ('Power,' 'The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story') will executive produce and serve as the producing director for the upcoming season. Filming will start this December for a spring 2020 premiere on National Geographic channels in 172 countries and in 43 languages.
