Ava Astaire and Patricia Watt have announced the nominating committee for the 2011 Fred & Adele Astaire Awards, the only awards that recognize excellence in dance on Broadway and in film.
Directed by David Esbjornson (The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?), Driving Miss Daisy began performances on October 7, 2010, at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), and officially opened Monday, October 25, 2010. The 16-week limited engagement runs through Saturday, January 29, 2011.
The Broadway premiere of David Mamet's A Life in the Theatre, starring Patrick Stewart and T.R. Knight opened last night October 12th at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 W. 45th St.). Last night, March 18, Dame Edna and Michael Feinstein opened their new Broadway collaboration, ALL ABOUT ME, at the new Henry Miller's Theatre and BroadwayWorld.com was there!
The event was a special toast to nine time Tony award winner Tommy Tune who will receive the group's Douglas Watt Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Brooke Shields at the awards gala benefiting The Auditory Oral School of New York.
