Artlightenment 6th Annual Art Show and Film Festival Launches, 11/13
by Christina Mancuso
- Jul 23, 2014
Robyn Morshead, founder of the annual art show Artlightenment, has announced the dates for the 6th annual festival at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre in Nashville, Tennessee.
Morshead is an artist and filmmaker herself and gears the event toward the advancement of every artist and filmmaker who participates or attends. Artlightenment showcases juried short films, visual art and fashion. Successful artists and filmmakers hold workshops and seminars and pass on their knowledge to others. These events and film screenings are open to the whole community.
Past winners of the Artlightenment award and the category awards have gone on to achieve success, including being accepted for major film festivals and advancing to produce full length feature films.
While there is always an emphasis on the Artlightenment's central idea of 'Art, Artists and the Art of Existence,' this year Morshead is looking at the 'Light Side of Art.' This includes comedy, humor in visual art, exceptional use of light and also what art does best: shining a light on people, experiences and events which might have gone unnoticed.
'Artists create the future,' says Corinne Sullivan, President of the Nashville church, 'It is very important that they are constantly supported and urged forward in their artistic endeavors.' The founder of Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard, is among the world's most enduring and widely read authors of all time. Not only that, L. Ron Hubbard was an accomplished artist in photography, poetry and music. That is why the Nashville Celebrity Centre takes innovative steps to fulfill its role in Nashville's culture.
The festival will take place this year on November 13 - 15 at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre Nashville, 1130 8th Ave S, and all are welcome. Prospective participants may submit their film or artwork online at artlightenment.com or contact Robyn Morshead at robynmorshead@gmail.com.

by Nicole Rosky
- Jul 10, 2014
Broadway's Holler If Ya Hear Me opened to mixed reviews last month, but lead producer Eric L. Gold won't let that affect the show's open-ended run at the Palace Theatre. He recently told Variety that he hopes to raise another $5 million to keep the new musical open until ticket sales improve.
When asked how long the show will remain, Gold told Variety: 'It's week to week right now. It can't tell you if it'll be two weeks or two months. It's an expensive game, and I'm the guy carrying the load financially. I made a rookie mistake by underestimating how much capital was necessary, but I'm tenacious.'
