The Old Globe will present a free, one-night-only event, Barry Edelstein In Conversation with Michael Riedel, tonight, October 22 at 6:00 p.m.

The Old Globe's GLOBE FOR ALL returns to bring free professional Shakespeare directly to diverse, multigenerational audiences in underserved communities around San Diego County. This second year of GLOBE FOR ALL follows a highly successful inaugural production in 2014. One of the Bard's most charming comedies, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, will be directed by renowned Shakespearean Rob Melrose, Artistic Director of San Francisco's Cutting Ball Theater, who makes his Globe debut. He directs a cast of local professional actors, including recent graduates of the Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program.

George Chakiris, who won an Oscar for his breakout role of 'Bernardo' in Jerome Robbins's WEST SIDE STORY, will be our Guest of Honor at the Free Summer Shakespeare screening of the film on Monday, August 24.

Among them, the company can claim 18 Tony Awards, 4 Pulitzer Prizes, 6 Pulitzer finalist distinctions, 3 Emmy Awards, and 2 Academy Awards; to list all their honors would take several pages.

Over 300 guests attended The Old Globe's 2015 Gala, "Club 3515," celebrating the Globe's 80th Anniversary, on July 25 on the Globe's historic campus in Balboa Park. When final proceeds and expenses are tallied, the net proceeds from this black-tie event will benefit the theatre's artistic and educational activities. Scroll down for photos from the event!

For many San Diegans, their ability to understand and appreciate the wonders of the Bard during our Summer Shakespeare Festival has increased exponentially since they joined us for Thinking Shakespeare Live!, a 90-minute exploration of the language of Shakespeare led by Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and assisted by three professional classical actors.

Each year, a select group of talented high school students participate in the Summer Shakespeare Intensive. This four-week program, which guides students through workshops and rehearsals, will culminate with a public performance of two, one-hour versions of Shakespeare's plays, Love's Labor's Lost, directed by Ray Chambers, and The Tempest, directed by Vivia Font, on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, on Monday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m.

The West Coast Premiere of Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, a new work by one of America's great comic playwrights, familiar to millions for Lend Me a Tenor and Crazy for You, is directed by Josh Rhodes, who previously choreographed the Globe's productions of Bright Star and Working, as well as Broadway's It Shoulda Been You, First Date, and Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, at The Old Globe. In celebration of his 100th birthday this year, The Old Globe will honor Founding Director Craig Noel and his many contributions to the world of theatre and the culture life of San Diego with Craig100, a special evening of memories and performances, on Monday, August 17 at 7:00 p.m.

The Old Globe has announced an extra-special appearance-an hour-long interview/conversation with one of America's great comic playwrights, Ken Ludwig, familiar to millions for Lend Me a Tenor and Crazy for You-on Sunday, July 26 at 5:30 p.m. prior to the 7:00 p.m. preview of his new and very popular play, Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery.

The Old Globe's presentation of Kiss Me, Kate, the classic musical comedy featuring a book by Sam and Bella Spewack and an iconic score by Cole Porter, will now add a week by popular demand and run through August 9 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets for the extension will go on sale this Sunday, July 12 at noon.
