As Summer Ends, New Shows Begin on the California Central Coast

As we OFFICIALLY bid farewell to Summer and welcome the start of the Fall season - we also bid farewell to a number of shows that have recently closed, and welcome several that have started or are about to start their runs here on the California Central Coast.

Victor Garber to Guest on Syfy's 'Stargate Universe' This Season

Syfy unveils an impressive roster of guest stars set to make appearances throughout the second season of the drama-adventure series, Stargate Universe, including Victor Garber, David Hewlett, Robert Picardo, Kathleen Quinlan and French Stewart, along with the previously announced guest appearances by Robert Knepper and Julie McNiven, who will both appear in multi-episode arcs. The second season of Stargate Universe debuts Tuesday, September 28 at 9PM (ET/PT) on Syfy.

Mulligan on 'My Fair Lady:' "Not happening this year"

Worst Previews is reporting that the upcoming remake of the 1964 classic My Fair Lady is still in the works, but 'hanging.' Despite recent confirmation from Sony execs that the project was still in play, reportedly with Carey Mulligan in the lead, Mulligan revealed at the Toronto Film Festival that 'I've definitely spoken about it, and I would love to do it if it happens, but it's just not happening right now...I read the script and the script is incredible. Emma Thompson wrote it. It's telling the story again, in another way and not trying to sort of copy anything and not trying to take away anything from that version of it. It's just telling it in a new era to a new generation of people.'

VideoCabaret Remounts THE GREAT WAR, Previews 10/26

In time for Armistice Day and the season of Remembrance, VideoCabaret remounts Michael Hollingsworth's acclaimed production of The Great War, which saw sold-out houses every night of its initial run this past spring.

Old Globe Annouces Cast/Creative for WELCOME TO ARROYO'S

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the cast and creative team for the West Coast Premiere of Kristoffer Diaz's Welcome to Arroyo's. Directed by Jaime Castañeda, the hip hop-infused play will run in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre Sept. 25 - Oct. 31. Previews run Sept. 25 - Sept. 29. Opening night is Thursday, Sept. 30 at 7:00 p.m. Welcome to Arroyo's will also be performed at Lincoln High School Center for the Arts Nov. 6 and 7 as part of the Globe's Southeastern San Diego Residency Project. TV: Robert Foxworth Stars in King Lear at Old Globe

Robert Foxworth plays King Lear and Bruce Turk the Fool in Shakespeare's tragedy, directed by Festival Artistic Director Adrian Noble. The crowns are swapped in Alan Bennett's The Madness of George III, also helmed by Noble, where Miles Anderson will play King George III and Foxworth will play Dr. Willis. The Festival also includes Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew directed by Ron Daniels with Jonno Roberts and Emily Swallow as the two sparring lovers.

Lyceum Theatre Closes AND THEN THERE WERE NONE 8/28

AND THEN THERE WERE NONE, also published under the title, 'Ten Little Indians', is Agatha Christie's best selling novel and the 7th most popular book of all time with over 100 million copies sold. Eight strangers and two servants are invited to a mansion off the coast of Devon. Once the arrive, statuettes of little soldier boys on the mantel fall to the ground in conjunction with a nursery rhyme telling how each of the ten 'soldiers' met his death until there were none. A mysterious voice accuses each of having gotten away with murder and then one drops dead---poisoned. One down and nine to go! The excitement never lets up in this remarkable thriller!

Theatre de la Ville Presents A NEST, WHAT FOR? 10/19

'Royal court in exile in the mountains seeks image consultant, fully equipped room in atypical chalet, artists please abstain.' This is the message in a bottle sent by a King on the wane, which announces A Nest, What For by Olivier Cadiot, brought to the stage by Ludovic Lagarde and the artistic collective of the Comédie de Reims.

Lyceum Theatre Presents AND THEN THERE WERE NONE 8/21

Lyceum alums Harold L. Hynick and Peggy Billo play the two servants, Thomas and Ethel Rogers. Both were seen on the Lyceum stage earlier this season in My Fair Lady and The Man Who Came To Dinner.
