Diversionary Theatre announced the company's 2012-2013 productions and presentations at an event this past Saturday. The season will include the previously announced world-premiere of Harmony, Kansas, a new musical; an imaginative staging of Pippin; the first full-scale production of the new play, when last we flew; a comedy about family, Birds of a Feather; and, the hilarious farce, The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabbler.

NBC announced today an ambitious new primetime lineup for the 2012-13 primetime season that combines one of the top-quality returning lineups on television with a new fall edition of the red-hot musical competition 'The Voice' and a crop of six new scripted series in the fall and four at mid-season.
NBC has officially picked up six episodes of NEXT CALLER (A.K.A. NEXT CALLER PLEASE). The Dane Cook/Collette Wolfe single-camera comedy from writer Stephen Falk, Lionsgate and Universal TV, is about a testosterone-wielding DJ and his new feminist co-host who host a relationship radio show in New York City.
Goodman Theatre and Teatro Vista team up for their second world-premiere production with Fish Men, Puerto Rican playwright Candido Tirado's new comedic drama about a group of urban chess hustlers drawn together by a shared need to overcome their individual demons. Edward Torres, Artistic Director of Teatro Vista, makes his Goodman directorial debut with this second play of a three-year producing partnership between the Goodman and Teatro Vista, Chicago's first and largest not-for-profit professional Latino theater company. Fish Men runs through tonight, May 6, 2012, in the Goodman's Owen Theatre.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rooney Mara has joined the cast of the big-screen adaptation of Colm Toibins' BROOKLYN. The film will be based on the best-selling novel by author and screenwriter Nick Hornby. The actress will join previously announced cast members Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette and Emile Hirschcast.

The House Theatre of Chicago continues its 10th anniversary season with an all-new re-imagining of the company's inaugural production and first ever hit, Death and Harry Houdini, which opened on January 29, 2012 and is now playing at The Chopin Theatre (1543 W. Division St.).
Today in 2000, The Wild Party opened at the Virginia Theatre (now the August Wilson Theatre), where it ran for 68 performances. The Wild Party is a musical with a book by Michael John LaChiusa and George C. Wolfe and music and lyrics by LaChiusa. It is based on the 1928 Joseph Moncure March narrative poem of the same name. The Broadway production coincidentally opened during the same theatrical season (1999-2000) as an off-Broadway musical with the same title and source material. Its plot centers on a party - fueled by bathtub gin, cocaine, and uninhibited sexual behavior - hosted by Queenie and Burrs, whose relationship is disintegrating. The cast included Toni Collette (making her Broadway debut) as Queenie, Mandy Patinkin as Burrs, and Yancey Arias as Black.
