The Drama Desk Awards ceremony was hosted by Harvey Fierstein on May 23 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan Center. This year, for the first time, a 90-minute Highlights Special of the Drama Desk Awards Ceremony will be televised nationally on OVATION, the national cable network dedicated to presenting creative arts programming to national TV audiences. The ceremony will be given two primetime broadcasts plus four other airings between June 4 and June 19, 2011.

Parks & Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe today joined Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer; City Council Member Inez Dickens; Community Board 11 Chair Matthew Washington; Marcus Park Alliance President and Secretary/Treasurer Carla MacIntosh and Valerie Jo Bradley; City Parks Foundation Executive Director David Rivel; and Mary Rodgers Guettel, daughter of the composer Richard Rodgers and executive board member of the Rodgers Family Foundation, to cut the ribbon on $7 million in improvements to the restored bandshell and amphitheater at Marcus Garvey Park.

Roundabout Theatre Company's Tony-nominated ANYTHING GOES got a little more special this weekend during Fleet Week! After the show, Captain Zubah Koweh (US Marine Corp) brought his girlfriend ENS Amy Sullivan (US Navy) to attend a performance of ANYTHING GOES on Broadway. Following the curtain call, Captain Zubah Koweh (in uniform) got to propose marriage to his girlfriend in front of a sold-out audience while standing on stage surrounded by Sutton Foster, Joel Grey and all of the show's sailors. Patricia Watt, Executive Producer of the 2011 Fred & Adele Astaire Awards, has announced the first group of Presenters for the 29th Annual Fred & Adele Astaire Awards, In addition to Len Cariou and Brian Stokes Mitchell who will co-present the Douglas Watt Lifetime Achievement Award to legendary, dancer, choreographer, teacher and star of stage, film and television Jacques D'Amboise, additional presenters include Bill Irwin, Maurice Hines, Christine Andreas, Charlotte D'amboise, Christopher D'amboise and Karen Ziemba.

As recently announced, this years competing shows for the 'Best Revial of a Musical' Tony Award will make television appearances next week. The Tony nominated cast of Broadway's 'Anything Goes' will perform May 12 on ABC's 'The View' (11:00 a.m., ET).
