Japan Society Presents Bye Bye Kitty!!! 3/18-6/12

NY Philharmonic Announces Details for Weekly Radio Broadcasts

In April 2011 The New York Philharmonic This Week - the two-hour, national, weekly radio program of concerts by the New York Philharmonic, hosted by actor Alec Baldwin - begins with the fourth and final program from Hungarian Echoes: A Philharmonic Festival conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen. Mr. Salonen leads Haydn's Symphony No. 8, Le Soir; Bartok's Piano Concerto No. 1, with Olli Mustonen as soloist; Ligeti's Clocks and Clouds, featuring the Women of New York Choral Artists, Joseph Flummerfelt, director; and Bartok's Suite from The Miraculous Mandarin. The following week Michael Tilson Thomas conducts Prokofiev's American Overture for Orchestra, Op 42; the New York Premiere of Sofia Gubaidulina's In Tempus Praesens, Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, with Anne-Sophie Mutter, The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence, as soloist; and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 2, Little Russian.

NY Philharmonic To Present HUNGARIAN ECHOES PROGRAM III, 3/18-3/22

Hungarian Echoes: A Philharmonic Festival conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, will take place March 10-26, 2011. Program III, which will be performed Friday and Saturday, March 18-19, 2011, at 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m., will feature Bartok's opera, Bluebeard's Castle, starring mezzo-soprano Michelle De Young, bass Gabor Bretz - making his New York Philharmonic debut - and actress Marthe Keller, who will recite the Bard's Poem at the beginning of the work. The program opens with Ligeti's Concert Romanesc and Haydn's Symphony No. 7, Le Midi.

Beowulf Alley Theatre Presents Tomas Ulises-Soto's WORD CLOUDS, 3/4-3/12

Beowulf Alley Theatre's Late Night Theatre will present five performances only of a new play, Word Clouds, by Tomas Ulises-Soto, directed by Michael Fenlason. Performances are on March 4, 5 11, 12 at 10:30 p.m. and March 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 online at http://www.beowulfalley.org/html/tickets.html at least the day before each performance and $10 by phone (520) 882-0555, or at the door the night of performance. A portion of each ticket will be donated to the Community Food Bank.

Outfest Announces Fusion 2011 Lineup, Held 3/4-5

Outfest, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing, showcasing and protecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media, has announced its lineup for Fusion: the Los Angeles LGBT People of Color Film Festival.

Keen Co Continues 10th Anniversary Season with BENEFACTORS, 3/22-4/30

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company (Carl Forsman, Artistic Director/Wayne Kelton, Executive Director) today announced the cast for the 25th Anniversary production of Benefactors. Carl Forsman will direct a cast that includes Vivienne Benesch (appeared opposite Maggie Smith in the London revival of Edward Albee's The Lady from Dubuque; OBIE winner for Lee Blessing's Going to St. Ives), Daniel Jenkins (Love Child, Mary Poppins, Tony nominee for Big River), Deanne Lorette (La Bete), and Stephen Barker Turner (Rinne Groff's Compulsion opposite Mandy Patinkin).

The Relevant Stage presents the Broadway classic 'Kiss Me, Kate' choreographed by Marisa Martinez and Keenon Hooks, with costume design by Kara McLeod, February 17 - 28 runs Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 and 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 and 7:00 p.m. at The Warner Grand Theatre 478 West Sixth Street, San Pedro. Vincente Minnelli to be Honored by Locarno Film Festival

Vincente Minnelli - the late stage and film director best known for his musical films such as 1944's Meet Me in St. Louis (during which he dated and later married its star, legendary actress and singer Judy Garland), 1951's An American in Paris, 1955's Kismet, and 1958's Gigi (for which he won an Oscar) - is set to be honored by the Locarno Film Festival in August.

Fox Theatre Welcomes DOOLITTLE TOUR, 4/22

Armed with a Grammy nomination for the special collector's uber-box set Minotaur, the Pixies announce that they will bring their critically-acclaimed 'Doolittle Tour' to 13 Canadian cities this Spring. The tour will kick off April 9 at the Metro Center in Halifax and work its way across to Western Canada, ending in Vancouver on May 3. This will be the Pixies' most extensive tour of the provinces, and will see the band visiting several Canadian cities for the very first time. In addition, the tour will make stops at three U.S. cities, including Detroit at the Fox Theatre on Friday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m.
