TCG Announces Cycle A Recipients of Leadership U[niversity]-Continuing Ed Program

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) announces the 2013 Cycle A recipients of the Leadership U[niversity]-Continuing Ed program. Through the support of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, grants of up to $5,000 will support four mid-career and veteran theatre professionals at TCG Member Theatres for learning opportunities to advance their leadership skills. The goal of this program is to strengthen the field by developing the individuals who are the core and the future of theatre. The Cycle B Continuing Ed grant application process will launch in October of 2013.

Francois Battiste, Michael Crane, Ethan Phillips and Zach Shaffer Join MTC's TAKING CARE OF BABY; Full Cast Announced!

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced full casting for the American premiere of Taking Care of Baby by Dennis Kelly and directed by Erica Schmidt. Joining previously announced cast members Reed Birney (Blasted, Our Leading Lady), Kristen Bush (Kin, The Common Pursuit), Tony nominee Amelia Campbell (A Streetcar Named Desire, Our Country's Good) and Margaret Colin (The Columnist, 'Gossip Girl'), are Francois Battiste (Magic/ Bird), Michael Crane (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson off-Broadway), Ethan Phillips (Golden Age) and Zach Shaffer ('Smash').

National Black Theatre to Present Keith Josef Adkins' THE LAST SAINT ON SUGAR HILL, 10/29-11/24

Dr. Barbara Ann Teers's National Black Theatre (NBT) will open its 45th Season with the New York Premiere of The Last Saint On Sugar Hill, written by Keith Josef Adkins and directed by Seret Scottannounced NBT's Director of Theatre Arts Program, Jonathan McCrory. Preview performances begin Tuesday, October 29th at NBT, 2031 Fifth Avenue starting at 7:30pm. The opening night is set for Friday, November 1st at 7pm. The production will run through Sunday, November 24th.

Playwrights Horizons Extends MR. BURNS, A POST-ELECTRIC PLAY thru Oct 20

Due to critical acclaim and popular demand, Playwrights Horizons has announced an extension of its New York premiere production of MR. BURNS, A POST-ELECTRIC PLAY, a new play by Anne Washburn, with music by Obie Award winner Michael Friedman. Directed by Steve Cosson, the Obie Award-winning Artistic Director of The Civilians, MR. BURNS is being presented as the first production of Playwrights Horizons' 2013/2014 Season.

4000 MILES Kicks Off Northlight's 2013-14 Season Tonight

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, announces the final two selections of the 2013-14 season: the Midwest Premiere of Detroit '67, directed by Ron OJ Parson and Jon Jory's acclaimed adaptation of Henry Fielding's Tom Jones, directed by William Brown.

Skokie's Northlight Theatre to Present DETROIT '67, 11/8-12/15

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, presents the Midwest Premiere of Detroit '67 by Dominique Morisseau, directed by Ron OJ Parson. The production will run at Northlight Theatre, 9501 Skokie Blvd in Skokie, from November 8-December 15, 2013. The Press Opening is Friday, November 15 at 7:30 pm.

Plays by Robert O'Hara, Jessica Blank & More Set for The Public's NEW WORK NOW! Series, Begin. 9/9

The Public Theater announced the September line-up today for NEW WORK NOW!, the free reading series that allows audiences an opportunity to experience new work by a diverse selection of established and emerging theater artists. NEW WORK NOW! will run September 9 to September 21 in The Public's Martinson Theater (425 Lafayette Street). Now in its twentieth season, NEW WORK NOW! is an important part of The Public Theater's ongoing commitment to developing and mentoring new voices for the American Theater.

The Colony Theatre Presents BREATH AND IMAGINATION: THE STORY OF ROLAND HAYES, 9/14-10/13

The Colony Theatre is thrilled to present the West Coast Premiere of BREATH AND IMAGINATION: The Story of Roland Hayes, a true story by Daniel Beaty, directed by Saundra McClain, with Musical Direction by Rahn Coleman. BREATH AND IMAGINATION will preview on Wednesday, September 11; Thursday, September 12; and Friday, September 13 at 8:00pm and will open on Saturday, September 14 at 8:00pm and continue through Sunday, October 13.

Northlight Theatre Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans announce casting for the first three selections of the 2013-14 season. Northlight will open its season with the 2013 Pulitzer Prize finalist 4000 Miles by Amy Herzog, featuring Emjoy Gavino, Caroline Neff, Josh Salt and Mary Ann Thebus. The Midwest Premiere of Detroit '67 will feature Tyla Abercrumbie,Cassandra Bissell, Kamal Angelo Bolden, Coco Elysses and Kelvin Roston, Jr. Jon Jory's new adaptation of Henry Fielding's classic novel Tom Jones will include Chris Amos, Sam Ashdown, Nora Fiffer, Molly Glynn, Melanie Keller, John Lister, Cristina Panfilio, Eric Parks and Marcus Truschinski. John Mahoney and Penny Slusher will appear in the World Premiere of Chapatti.

ELTC's Artistic Director and Playwright James Rana Talk SLEEPY HOLLOW
