SLIPPING Opens The Love Story Of 2 Iowa Boys Plays Rattlestick Playwrights 7/28

Piece by Piece Productions and Rising Phoenix Repertory in association with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater will present the New York premiere of Slipping, written by Daniel Talbott and directed by Kirsten Kelly, beginning Tuesday, July 28 at 8pm at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place. The opening night is set for Tuesday, August 4 at 7pm.

CTH Presents ARCHBISHOP SUPREME TARTUFFE, Begins 6/12 At Clurman Theatre

The Classical Theater of Harlem (CTH) will present the Off-Broadway premiere of Archbishop Supreme Tartuffe by Alfred Preisser & Randy Weiner, directed by CTH Co-Founder & Artistic Director, Alfred Preisser. Performances will begin June 12th and run through July 19th only at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues).

Village Voice Announces 54th Annual OBIE Awards For 5/18

The Village Voice, the nation's largest alternative weekly newspaper, announced today the 54th Annual OBIE awards will take place on Monday, May 18,2009 at the newly landmarked Webster Hall in the East Village. The OBIES will be co-hosted by Martha Plimpton and Daniel Breaker at an invitation-only ceremony. A list of notable presenters will be released soon.

Lark Presents THE MOUNTAINTOP Workshop Production 4/29-5/2

This month, the Lark Play Development Center will present a BareBones® production of THE MOUNTAINTOP by Katori Hall (Hoodoo Love). This workshop production comes as the next stage of development for the play, which was part of the Lark's 2007-08 Playwrights' Workshop program led by Lark Playwright Advisor Arthur Kopit.

New York Theatre Workshops Presents THINGS OF DRY HOURS 6/8-6/28

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Things of Dry Hours, written by Naomi Wallace and directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, will begin performances Friday, May 22, at NYTW, 79 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery. Opening night is scheduled for Monday, June 8 at 7:00pm. The production will run through Sunday, June 28.

Hathaway, Olivo, Creel & More Set for 54th Annual OBIE Awards 5/18

The OBIES will be co-hosted by Martha Plimpton and Daniel Breaker at an invitation-only ceremony. Anne Hathaway, Brian d'Arcy James, Gavin Creel, Karen Olivo, John Shea, Kate Mulgrew, and Marc Kudisch will join the ceremony as presenters.

OTHELLO Returns To NY Stage For 12 Performances 4/15-4/24

Theatre for a New Audience's acclaimed production of Othello directed by Arin Arbus in her Off-Broadway directing debut, returns to the stage with the entire cast intact for twelve performances only, April 15 through April 24, at The Duke on 42nd StreetSM, a New 42nd Street? project, 229 West 42nd Street. Othello is following Theatre for a New Audience's production of Hamlet, directed by David Esbjornson. Hamlet begins previews Tuesday, March 17, at 7:30pm, opening Thursday, March 26, at 6:30pm, and running through Sunday, April 12.

Photo Flash: McCarter Theatre Center Announces Casting For THE BROTHER/SISTER PLAYS, 4/24 - 6/21

The Tony Award® -winning McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, NJ, has announced the complete cast for the world premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's landmark trilogy The Brother/Sister Plays. Presented in two parts, the production will be presented with a single cast and performed in repertory in McCarter's Berlind Theatre. The Brother/Sister Plays is co-produced with New York's Public Theater.

Matrix Theater Company Returns With STICK FLY 4/4-5/31

An upper class African American family wrestles with parental expectations, sibling rivalry, and issues of class and race. Following a two-year hiatus, Joseph Stern's multiple award-winning Matrix Theatre Company returns with the West Coast premiere of Stick Fly by Lydia R. Diamond, an important new play from one of America's freshest and most dynamic voices. Shirley Jo Finney directs Chris Butler, Avery Clyde, Tinashe Kajese, Terrell Tilford, John Wesley and Michole Briana White at The Matrix Theatre, April 4 through May 31, with previews beginning March 26.

Donal O'Kelly's THE CAMBRIA Opens at Irish Arts 3/17

The Irish Arts Center, in association with Classical Theatre of Harlem, presents a one-week only special engagement of Donal O'Kelly's The Cambria, directed by Raymond Keane and starring Mr. O'Kelly and Sorcha Fox. The Cambria opens on Tuesday, March 17 for a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, March 22. The performance schedule is Tuesday ? Friday at 8:00 PM; Saturday at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM; and Sunday at 3:00 PM. Performances take place at the Donaghy Theatre at the Irish Arts Center (553 West 51st Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues). TFANA's OTHELLO Set to Make Return Run at Duke in April

The New York Timesi s reporting that Theatre for a New Audience and director, Arin Arbus' critically acclaimed production of Othello will return to the Duke on 42nd Street Theatre, April 15th through 24th. The show will again feature John Douglas Thompson as Othello, Ned Eisenberg as Iago, and Juliet Rylance as Desdemona.
