Nominations for the 57th Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced at a news conference on April 27 by Drama Desk winners Donna Murphy and Brian d'Arcy James. After weeks of anticipation, the ceremony is tonight, June 3, at The Town Hall and BroadwayWorld will be bringing you the full spectrum of coverage, of course!

Cady Huffman and More to Headline Prospect Theater Company's NYMPH ERRANT

Tony Award winner Cady Huffman will play the roles of Ms. Pratt, Clarissa and Mrs. Bamberg in Prospect Theater Company's upcoming new production of Cole Porter's NYMPH ERRANT, featuring the original 1933 Porter score and a revised book by Rob Urbinati. Performances begin July 7 at the Clurman Theatre at Theatre Row.

Award Winning Playwright Tony Glazer to Premiere AMERICAN STARE at NJ Rep, 6/14-7/22

New Jersey Repertory Company has announced the world premiere production of American Stare by Tony Glazer, directed by Evan Bergman. American Stare will begin preview performances on Thursday, June 14, 2012 and will celebrate its opening night on Saturday, June 16 at New Jersey Repertory Company (179 Broadway, Long Branch, NJ), running through Sunday, July 22.

The Drama League announced today the winners for the 78th Annual Drama League Awards: Distinguished Play, Other Desert Cities, presented by Philip Seymour Hoffman; Distinguished Revival of a Play, Death of a Salesman, presented by Christian Borle; Distinguished Production of a Musical, Once, presented by Cynthia Nixon; Distinguished Revival of a Musical, Follies, presented by Kelli O'Hara; and Distinguished Performance, Audra McDonald, presented by John Lithgow at a star-studded luncheon ceremony hosted by Stockard Channing (Other Desert Cities) and John Larroquette (Gore Vidal's The Best Man) at the Marriott Marquis Times Square.

Tony Glazer's AMERICAN STARE Premieres at New Jersey Rep, 6/14

New Jersey Repertory Company (SuzAnne Barabas, Artistic Director; Gabor Barabas, Executive Producer) presents the world premiere production of American Stare by Tony Glazer, directed by Evan Bergman. American Stare will begin preview performances on Thursday, June 14, 2012 and will celebrate its opening night on Saturday, June 16 at New Jersey Repertory Company (179 Broadway, Long Branch, NJ), running through Sunday, July 22. Tickets are $40 ($35 during previews and $60 on opening night - with reception) and can be purchased by calling 732-229-3166 or visiting www.njrep.org.

The 78th Annual Drama League Awards will be held at the Marriott Marquis Times Square on Friday, May 18, 2012 at noon. Check out the 2012 Drama League Nominees for Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and the much coveted Distinguished Performance Award.

Garden Theatre Announces THE MUSIC MAN, 4/20-5/27

The Garden Theatre will present its third self-produced spring production,The Music Man showing April 20-May 27 at the Garden Theatre (160 West Plant Street). Directed by Claud Smith III, The Music Man has a cast of over 60 children and adults ranging in age from 5-65 as actors, singers, and dancers from across the Central Florida area.

Showtime's HOMELAND Among Winners of 71st Annual Peabody Awards

Thirty-eight recipients of the 71st Annual Peabody Awards were announced today by the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. The winners, chosen by the Peabody board as the best in electronic media for the year 2011, were named in a ceremony in the Peabody Gallery on the University of Georgia Campus.

Shirley Knight to Lead Unperformed Tennessee Williams Play IN MASKS OUTRAGOUS AND AUSTERE at Culture Project this Spring

Shirley Knight, the Tony and Emmy Award winner (and two-time Academy Award nominee) will play Clarissa "Babe" Foxworth, heroine in the World Premiere of IN MASKS OUTRAGEOUS AND AUSTERE, the final full length play by Tennessee Williams, it was announced today by Producers Victor Syrmis, Carl Rumbaugh and Susan Batson, along with Culture Project (Allan Buchman, Artistic Director). Directed by David Schweizer,the play will begin performances on Thursday, April 5, 2012 with an Opening Night set for Monday, April 16, 2012 at Culture Project at 45 Bleecker (at Lafayette Street). The production is scheduled to play through May 26, 2012.
