After a nationwide search for new short musicals created by young writers, the six final shows have been selected for SHOWSEARCH, produced by The Festival of New American Musicals in residence at University of California, Irvine.

The Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) at the University of California, Irvine is launching a new Minor in Digital Filmmaking. The Department of Art is accepting applications for the first classes which commence Fall Quarter 2015. The new program will give students across campus the skills to create sophisticated time-based media projects and learn expertise in production. The program boasts a hybrid of traditional and creative approaches with emphasis on the production of new works for delivery online. With the Minor, Undergraduate students will have the opportunity to produce digital film works with content that contributes to the future of film as an art form.

Starting fittingly on July Fourth weekend, Museum of the Moving Image will present The Essential John Ford, a tribute to the consummate American filmmaker. Ford made his reputation on westerns, but worked in many genres, creating films of depth, beauty, and ambiguity. From today, July 3 through August 2, the Museum will present 20 movies directed by Ford-all on film, with some restored archival prints-including his masterpieces Young Mr. Lincoln, My Darling Clementine, The Searchers, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.

UCI's Improv Revolution (iRev) will present The Coup de Comedy Festival 2015. iRev is an improvisational ensemble composed of undergraduate students from UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA). This epic 4-day festival brings the best shows, panels and workshops to the UC Irvine campus and community for FREE. This year's festival will be May 6-9, 2015 in the Little Theatre, Nixon Theatre, Winifred Smith Hall, Claire Trevor Theatre, and other workshop spaces at CTSA.

UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) Drama Department presents THE ELECTRA PROJECT, tonight, March 7 - 15, 2015. The production, which is the fifth installment in the department's LOVE, LUST & GREED season, is written and directed by Mihai Maniutiu Distinguished Professor of Drama, native of Romania and Artistic and Executive Director of the National Theatre in Cluj, Romania. The production reimagines the classical Electra story in a new way, incorporating Romanian folk music (performed by renowned guest artists Ioan Pop and Iza Group, from the Maramures region of Romania) to drive and synergize the dramatic action.

The Festival of New American Musicals and the University of California, Irvine a nnounce the launch of a nationwide search for new, short musicals created by writers between the ages of 14 - 23. The Festival produced a pilot of ShowSearch in 2013 in Los Angeles. Its success in attracting creative responses from young writers representing over 40 states has led to this new cooperative relationship between FNAM and UC Irvine Department of Drama.

UCI Launches Registration for 2015 Summer Academies in the Arts

The Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) at the University of California, Irvine launched registration for its 2015 Summer Academies in the Arts today. The Academies are part of a movement by the school to provide meaningful opportunities for the community to engage with the arts on campus at UCI and to contribute to youth development. These college and career preparatory intensives for high school and middle school students, and exploratory arts and learning camps for elementary school students, enhance students' 21st century skills, and support college and career goals, self-confidence and leadership.
