STAGE TUBE: GODSPELL Visits Letterman!

The 40th Anniversary production and first-ever Broadway revival of Stephen Schwartz's landmark rock musical GODSPELL is now in preview performances at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre. Directed by Daniel Goldstein and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Christopher Gattelli (South Pacific), the show will open on Monday, November 7. Last night, the company visited Late Night with David Letterman and below, we bring you a clip of their performance!

Thomas Kail-Helmed MAGIC/BIRD to Begin Previews on Broadway Feb. 27

Producers Fran Kirmser and Tony Ponturo (Lombardi) will next present MAGIC/BIRD on Broadway, reuniting with Tony-nominated director Thomas Kail (Lombardi, In The Heights) and Lombardi playwright and Oscar winner and Emmy Nominee Eric Simonson. The new play chronicles the intertwined life stories of two of the most influential figures in sports and pop culture of the past 25 years, basketball Hall of Famers Larry Bird and Earvin ‘Magic' Johnson. According to an audition notice out today, the production will go into rehearsal on January 23, 2012 and begin previews on February 27. An opening date and theater have yet to be announced.

CoActive Content Presents THE KING OF THE DESERT 10/28-12/4

CoActive Content, Stacey Martino, Founder/Artistic Director, and American Latino Theatre Company, David Llauger-Meiselman, Artistic Director, will present a new co-production of the critically acclaimed play, 'The King of the Desert,' written by Stacey Martino, performed by René Rivera, and helmed by award-winning director, Sal Romeo, all Studio Lifetime Members of The Actors Studio.

Some Hair-hoppin' Questions for LU's HAIRSPRAY Cast: The Nicest Kids in Town, Part I

Without a doubt - and even before they take to the stage in Lipscomb University Theatre's production of Hairspray - it's pretty clear that the production's cast members are truly 'the nicest kids in town.' Bringing the hit musical to life for local audiences, which will include a large contingent of alumni in town for homecoming at the Nashville university (Hairspray runs November 3-6 in Collins Auditorium on the Lipscomb campus), the large ensemble of more than 40 actors are hard at work, sharpening their skills, running lines and rehearsing like it's nobody's business. And their spirit and energy is palpable!

Northlight Theatre Presents SNAPSHOTS, Closes 10/23

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, opens its 37th season with the Chicago premiere of Snapshots: A Musical Scrapbook, music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by David Stern.

Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA Presents HOUSE OF GOLD, 10/22-12/4

Can a parent love a child just for him or herself alone? Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA will present the West Coast premiere of a darkly comic, yet poignant new play about childhood in America. Inspired by the unsolved murder of six-year old JonBenét Ramsey, House of Gold by Gregory Moss opens on October 22 at Atwater Village Theatre, with low-priced previews beginning October 15.

The revival of Godspell, which has long been expected to head to Broadway next season, will reportedly open at the Circle in the Square Theatre on November 7, 2011. according to a report in the New York Times. Performances will begin on October 13, 2011.

MA FEMME, MA BLONDE ET MA ROULOTTE will perform two nights only at the TBG Theater (312 W 36th Street NY, NY).

Joely Richardson Set to Star in Ibsen's THE LADY FROM THE SEA, February 23

According to the Daily Mail, Joely Richardson has signed on to star in Ibsen's THE LADY FROM THE SEA. Richardson's mother, Vanessa Redgrave, and sister, the late Natasha Richardson, have both played this leading role of Ellida, the lighouse keeper's daughter in Ibsen's drama. The play will be performed at the Rose Theatre in Kingston from February 23.
