Joely Richardson Set to Star in Ibsen's THE LADY FROM THE SEA, February 23

According to the Daily Mail, Joely Richardson has signed on to star in Ibsen's THE LADY FROM THE SEA. Richardson's mother, Vanessa Redgrave, and sister, the late Natasha Richardson, have both played this leading role of Ellida, the lighouse keeper's daughter in Ibsen's drama. The play will be performed at the Rose Theatre in Kingston from February 23.

THE LADY AND THE SEA has had several Broadway runs, including a 1976 production at Circle in the Square Theatre starring Vanessa Redgrave.  In 2003, the play ran at West End's Almeida Theatre and starred Natasha Richardson and Eoin McCarthy in the lead roles.

Joely Richardson has several upcoming movies due to be released in the next few months; Anonymous, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Red Lights. She was recently seen on the New York stage in the play SIDE EFFECTS.

Joely's work over six seasons on "Nip/Tuck" merited two Golden Globe nominations for her performance as 'Julia McNamara' and a Golden Globe win for the series. Theatre includes: Lady Windermere's Fan (Peter Hall/West End), Miss Julie (James Rudhin/Almeida), Macbeth, Worlds Apart, Every Man in His Humor and A Midsummer Night's Dream (RSC). Other Film includes: Anonymous (Roland Emmerich), The Last Mimzy (Bob Shaye), The Affair of the Necklace (Charles Shyer), The Patriot (Roland Emmerich), Maybe Baby (Ben Elton), 101 Dalmatians (Steven Herek). Other Television includes: "The Whole Truth," "The Tudors," "Day of the Triffids," and "Nip/Tuck."
