Fans of musical theatre can anticipate the rare opportunity to attend opening performances of a large-scale new musical in Cape Town. Tiger TIGER BAY: THE MUSICAL, a rousing epic set in Cardiff's bustling multi-racial docklands at the turn of the last century, will have a short run at the Artscape Opera House this May before transferring to the United Kingdom in late 2017.

The Royal Court Theatre announces that Gary Beadle, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr, Lashana Lynch, Shvorne Marks and Meera Syal have been cast in new play a profoundly affectionate, passionate devotion to someone (-noun) written and directed by debbie tucker green. It runs in the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Upstairs from Tuesday 28 February 2017 to Saturday 1 April 2017 with Press Night on Monday 6 March 2017.

Following a sell-out run at the Royal Court Theatre in 2016, BAM Harvey Theater and the Royal Court Theatre are delighted to announce that James Macdonald's production of Caryl Churchill's Escaped Alone will transfer to New York for a strictly limited run.

New work by Inua Ellams, Ya?l Farber, DC Moore, Lindsey Ferrentino and Nina Raine is announced today by Rufus Norris, Director of the National Theatre. Four world premieres and two European premieres are further announced as forthcoming productions for the National Theatre in 2017.  

A woman arrives in a rural village in pre-industrial England. Her desire is to sew and learn from their simple way of life. But the group soon begins to suspect she is not who they thought she was. 'There's no point in just making quilts. They have to serve the village. They have to DO something.'

London's critically acclaimed Shakespeare's Globe, under the artistic direction of Emma Rice, will light up US stages and screens this summer and fall, with a three-city limited engagement of The Merchant of Venice, which will play limited engagements in New York, Washington, D.C. and Chicago in July and August. Hampstead Theatre today announces that its acclaimed production of Wild will be streamed worldwide, free, and live on its final night, Saturday 23 July at 7.30pm GMT, in association with The Guardian.

After a sell-out run in 2016 at the Royal Court Theatre, Caryl Churchill's critically acclaimed new play Escaped Alone will return to the Royal Court for a two week run Wednesday 25 January - Saturday 11 February 2017 and will then tour to The Lowry, Salford Quays Tuesday 7 - Saturday 11 March 2017, Cambridge Arts Theatre Tuesday 14 - Saturday 18 March and Bristol Old Vic Wednesday 22 - Sunday 26 March 2017.

Beginning July 1, 2016, the Royal Shakespeare Company's acclaimed production of Shakespeare's Hamlet will play in select movie houses across North America.  The production, which opened to rave reviews at the RSC's home in Stratford-upon-Avon, was filmed for "Live from Stratford-upon-Avon," the RSC program that screens the world's greatest classical theatre company from Shakespeare's home town around the world through a continued partnership with Picturehouse Entertainment.
