Surprising no one following the show's grosses, it's just been announced NEWSIES, which opened on Broadway back in March for a limited run through August 19th will now officially be an open-ended run with tickets on sale through November 18, 2012 and group sales to January of 2013. The show received 8 Tony nominations earlier this month.

NEWSIES is currently playing at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st St) for a strictly limited 101 performance run following its critically-hailed stint at Paper Mill Playhouse last fall. Producers Scott Landis and Philip Morgaman have announced that EVER AFTER, a new musical based on the 20th Century Fox Film, will open on Broadway in the 2013-2014 season following a pre-Broadway engagement to be announced. The production will be directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall. EVER AFTER features music by Zina Goldrich and book & lyrics by Marcy Heisler, who recently won the 2012 Kleban Prize for Musical Theatre for most promising musical theatre lyricist. The music director is Mary-Mitchell Campbell.

Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators for media covering New York theatre announced today its award winners for the 2011-12 season in 24 categories.

Beginning Friday, June 1st, Shuler Hensley will star as Dr. Hannibal Lecter in Off-Broadway's SILENCE! The Musical through June 24th, filling in for the vacationing David Garrison.

Cady Huffman, Tony Award winner for her performance as Ulla in The Producers, attended SILENCE! The Musical at PS122 this past Thursday, May 5th.

Newsies, the new American musical that just received eight Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, will be featured on ABC's "Nightline" tonight, May 3. Correspondent John Berman talks with the cast of Newsies and explains how the plot, set in 1899, has re-energized a new protest generation. "Nightline" airs nationally on ABC at 11:30p.m.
