Contemporary American Theater Festival Announces 24th Season Humanities Events, 7/11-8/3

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University has announced its 2014 Humanities events. The events, produced in tandem with CATF's July 11-August 3 repertory season, will feature playwrights Christina Anderson, Charles Fuller (winner of the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for Drama), Thomas Gibbons, Bruce Graham, and Chisa Hutchinson; CATF will also host guest speakers Miranda Petersen (Protect Our Defenders Foundation), Bruce Duncan and the Bina48 Artificial Intelligence unit (Terasem Movement Foundation), Theresa M. Davis (University of Virginia), Dr. Julia Sandy-Bailey (Shepherd University), and David Leong (Theatre VCU).

Preview Performances Begin Tonight at Contemporary American Theater Festival, Now Through 7/10

Expanded this year! CATF's Pay-What-You-Can Preview series allows you to experience the 2014 repertory of plays before they open at whatever price you care to pay. While the playwrights, directors, and designers are still working and changing the plays (you might even still see them in the theater!), the performances are fully produced with all sets, lights, video, sound, and costumes. In many ways, the Preview audiences are the final important piece in the the decision-making of these NEW plays. Come join us in shaping the FUTURE of American theater!

The Contemporary American Theater Festival Begins July 6

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University (CATF) begins preview performances on Sunday, July 6th. All five plays that make up the 2014 repertory will receive at least two preview performances before the Festival officially opens on Friday, July 11th.

About Face Presents METHTACULAR!, 8/21-9/28

About Face Theatre, in association with Justin Brill, is pleased to launch its 2014-15 season with Methtacular!, written and performed by Steven Stafford and directed by Adam Fitzgerald. In this Chicago premiere, Strafford shares his brutally honest and often comedic story of survival in the underground world of Chicago's crystal meth scene. Methtacular! plays August 21 - September 28, 2014 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. Megan Hilty Will be the First Guest on AMERICAN BLEND, 6/17

James Michael Angelo and Tiffany Haas are thrilled to announce that Megan Hilty (Smash, Sean Saves the World, Wicked and Nine to Five on Broadway) will be the very first guest on their new talk show, AMERICAN BLEND. The pilot episode will hit the web on Tuesday, June 17th on the AMERICAN BLEND website, (www.americanblend.tv). The duo plans to turn the talk show into a weekly series beginning in the fall of 2014, future guests will be announced soon. The series is co-hosted by Mr. Angelo and Ms. Haas.

Magic Theatre is delighted to celebrate the return of Magic's 2011 Playwright in Residence, Christina Anderson, with the world premiere of PEN/MAN/SHIP. The production is directed by Magic Theatre's Associate Artistic Director Ryan Guzzo Purcell and will run today, May 21 - June 15, 2014 at Magic Theatre, Fort Mason Center, Building D, 3rd Floor. Magic Theatre will welcome back National New Play Network Playwright-in-Residence Christina Anderson for the world premiere of pen/man/ship, directed by Associate Artistic Director Ryan Guzzo Purcell. pen/man/ship runs May 21 - June 15. Anderson's latest work explores a particularly explosive time in our American history. Set in 1896, a father and son board a ship heading for Africa on a mysterious mission. On board, family secrets and true intentions are revealed, changing the course of their journey and their lives forever.

ARCADIA, Three World Premieres & More Set for Yale Rep's 2014-15 Season

New Ohio Theatre Artistic Director Robert Lyons, in association with Purpleman Theater, has announced Baby Talk, a weekly conversation series which follows all Wednesday night performances of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel's And Baby Makes Seven. Produced by Gwynn MacDonald, Loren Noveck and Purpleman Theater, Baby Talk will feature playwrights, performers, thinkers and activists who will discuss some of the issues touched on in And Baby Makes Seven, as well as Vogel's career as a playwright and her influence as a teacher and mentor. A DISH FOR THE GODS at Theatre Row Opens Today

Rachel Reiner Productions presents the World Premiere of Victor L. Cahn's A Dish For The Gods, directed by Adam Fitzgerald.
