Back for its sixth summer, the Fordham Alumni Company will for the first time host a weekend of film screenings created by Fordham Alumni. The sister program to the company's FRESH ART festival the weekend before, The CANNED Art weekend showcases work Fordham Alumni have finished creating, saved for prosperity in the can. A variety of feature length and short films, documentaries, as well as web-series and sketches will be shown. All screenings will be presented at the Wild Project (195 E. 3rd St., NYC). Admission is $5 per film. In addition, audience members can purchase a $12 “RamPass” to see 3 or more films. To purchase tickets in advance visit www.thewildproject.com. According to Variety, Footloose's Kenny Wormald, Jocelin Donahue and Fran Kranz have joined the upcoming indie film THE LIVING, written and directed by Jack Bryan. The trio will join previously announced Chris Mulkey and Joelle Carter.

The World Premiere new musical PARADISE, is extending through May 4th, 2013, at Ruskin Group Theatre, 3000 Airport Avenue, Santa Monica, Calif. The run will take a hiatus from March 31st - April 12th, no performance on April 28th. Award winning director Dan Bonnell has assembled an outstanding cast for this memorable new musical, with live music on stage.

Many will be vehemently opposed to the theme of Joanna Murray-Smith's The Gift, for it concerns undoing primary parental obligation. It is forgivable when an artist sometimes allows his livelihood to take precedence over his parental duties, but to negate them is nothing short of immoral/criminal. Murray-Smith toys with where an artist's loyalties should lie in an unpredictable comedy/drama that will leave audience discussing the subject matter long after they leave the theatre. Isn't that what good theatre is meant to do? In its US premiere at the Geffen, The Gift cannot, should not be dismissed.
