Boasting a trove of never-before-seen archival footage, American Masters: Richard Linklater -- dream is destiny provides an unconventional look at the fiercely independent style of filmmaking that emerged out of Austin, Texas in the late 1980s and 1990s with Linklater as its poster boy. The new documentary premieres nationwide Today, September 1 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings). The film will be available to stream the following day via pbs.org/americanmasters and PBS OTT apps.

American Music Theatre Project to Workshop Three New Works This Season

 The American Music Theatre Project at Northwestern University (AMTP) announces the 2017/2018 season of workshop readings written by award-winning music theatre creators, directed by leading regional theater and Broadway directors and performed by students in the AMTP program.

Center for Puppetry Arts Presents The Dark Crystal Fan Film Event

The Center for Puppetry Arts is proud to welcome President of the Jim Henson Foundation Cheryl Henson, along with winners of the Dark Crystal Fan Film competition for a very special event honoring "The Dark Crystal" on Saturday, September 30. The enchanting evening will include a screening of the fan films and a talkback with Henson who judged the competition, along with grand prize-winning director Kristin Dalleske and runner-up James Pendleton. Prior to the fan film screening, Henson will be on hand to sign copies of "The Dark Crystal: Ultimate Visual History." 

Crystal Theatre Announces Fall 2017 Classes

Registration is now open for Crystal Theatre's musical theatre show classes for students in preschool - high school. All classes culminate in a fully staged musical production in the 250 seat auditorium at the Ben Franklin Center - 66 Bayview Ave. Norwalk, CT.

Cheryl Stern's SHOES AND BAGGAGE to Return to the cell

After a critically acclaimed run at nancy manocherian's the cell last season, Cheryl Stern's one-woman musical Shoes and Baggage returns to the cell for two performances, September 12 at 7PM and September 13 at 7PM.

2017 TRU Producer Development & Mentorship Program

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces that submissions are being accepted through August 25, 2017 for the 2017-18 Producer Development & Mentorship Program (PDMP). Created in collaboration with 4-time Tony winning producer Cheryl Wiesenfeld (The Heidi Chronicles, Rocky, All the Way, The Gershwin's Porgy & Bess, Vanya & Sonya & Masha & Spike, Elaine Stritch: At Liberty, The Exonerated), this monthly program runs one night a month from September through July, and offers ongoing support and education for producers at all levels of experience. The program is designed to offer a sophisticated but accessible range of information to educate and guide career producers, not-for-profit producers and self-producing artists.
