The Broadway League released the 2010-2011 Broadway's Economic Contribution to New York City report, the eighth biennial report in this series. Royal Caribbean Cruise's HAIRSPRAY to Perform on Tony Awards

Royal Caribbean International has announced that they will partner with the Tony Awards to include a live broadcast from the middle of the Caribbean Sea, where the line's Oasis of the Seas' cast of Hairspray will perform a show-stopping number in the ship's Opal Theater as part of the Tony Awards program. The cruise line, which has been named an official partner of the 66th Annual Tony Awards, will be part of the live broadcast airing on CBS from the Beacon Theatre in New York City on Sunday, June 10, 2012.

Broadway Grosses Rise & Attendance Up for 2011-12 Season

The Broadway League has released end-of-season statistics for the 2011 - 2012 season, which began May 30, 2011 and ended May 27, 2012. For the 2011 - 2012 season, Broadway shows yielded $1,139,311,457 in grosses, and total attendances reached 12,334,312.

2012 Tony Awards Will Host Times Square Visitor Center Showcase

The Tony Awards will host the second annual Tony Awards Showcase at the Times Square Museum and Visitor Center (located on Seventh Avenue between 46th and 47th Streets). The Tony Awards Showcase will run from today through the Tony Awards on Sunday, June 10th. Admission to the 2012 Tony Showcase is free to the public.

This year's award will be presented to producer Emanuel "Manny" Azenberg. The Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre will be presented at the 2012 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 10th. Broadway League Awards Education Grants to WIT & WICKED

The Broadway League has awarded coveted New York Education Grants to the Broadway productions of Wit by Margaret Edson, and Wicked by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman. Each production receives a $5,000 grant towards its 2012 educational initiatives. The grants are important to the growth and development of theatre education in the city as they encourage theatres to create more opportunities for young people and to exchange ideas about education.

In celebration of Women's History Month, the Apollo Theater will host Behind the Scenes: Women in Theatre on Monday, March 12. The free panel, which focuses on women's careers in the theatrical industry, is presented by the Apollo Theater Education Program, the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, The Broadway League and the League of Professional Theatre Women, as part of the "Made in NY" Industry Series. The panel begins at 6:30p.m. and is free and open to the public.
