NNPN Announces Over $125K in Grants for 2015-16

The National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announced its 2015-16 grant recipients, including the Smith Prize for Political Theatre, the 2015 Annual Commission, two Playwright Residencies, five Producer Residencies, and two Collaboration Fund awards that will support partnership between eight of its members on two productions. In all, NNPN committed over $125,000 to fourteen Core Member Theaters and nine Affiliated Artists.

MOTOWN National Tour Coming to The Orpheum, 7/14-19

Producers Kevin McCollum, Doug Morris and Berry Gordy, and The Orpheum Theatre, are proud to announce that performances for MOTOWN THE MUSICAL begin July 14, 2015.  Tickets are on sale and available for purchase online at the official Orpheum Theatre website, www.orpheum-memphis.com, The Orpheum Box Office (901.525.3000), the ticket counter at The Booksellers at Laurelwood, and all Ticketmaster centers (901.743.ARTS).  MOTOWN THE MUSICAL will play at The Orpheum Theatre, July 14 - 19, 2015.  Group orders of 15 or more may be placed by calling 901.529.4226.

Tickets for the West End production of Motown the Musical, opening at the Shaftesbury Theatre in February 2016, are released for sale today (15 May 2015).  With music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalogue and book by Motown founder Berry Gordy, Motown the Musical is directed by Charles Randolph-Wright.  London previews will begin on 11 February 2016 with press night on 8 March 2016 with the show booking to 22 October 2016.  Casting and further information about Motown the Musical will be released shortly.

As previously announced, MOTOWN THE MUSICAL will be shakin' it in the West End next spring. And now The Daily Mail has revealed the musical's dates at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, the show is set to begin previews on February 11, with an opening slated for March 8, 2015.
