Author, Actor, Icon! Charles Busch Brings His One-Man Show to The COPA Palm Springs, 10/16-17

CHARLES BUSCH, author and star of such plays as Psycho Beach Party, Times Square Angel, The Lady in Question, Red Scare on Sunset, You Should Be So Lucky, Shanghai Moon and The Divine Sister brings his iconic Cabaret stylings to The COPA Palm Springs for two 'sure to be sell-out' performances, October 16 and 17 at 8:00 pm.   Born in New York City, he began his theatrical career shortly after graduating from Northwestern University in 1976.  After spending two years in Chicago working with different local theatre companies, he returned to his home town of New York City with a solo play called Hollywood Confidential, which he performed as a weekend late show at Charles Ludlam's Ridiculous Theatrical Company's theatre at One Sheridan Square. 

DROP DEAD PERFECT to End Run This Weekend

Final performances of the acclaimed madcap comedy DROP DEAD PERFECT, starring the legendary Everett Quinton, will take place Oct 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th at Theatre at St. Clements (423 West 46 Street - between 9th and 10th Avenues) completing its limited engagement. The revival opened on August 23rd and received overwhelming rave reviews, critic picks, and audience accolades. DROP DEAD PERFECT is directed by Joe Brancato and written by Erasmus Fenn. THEATER TALK Kicks Off 24th Year with DROP DEAD PERFECT and Hirschfeld Exhibit Today

The 2015-16 premiere of THEATER TALK, now in its 24th year, focuses on a campy Off-Broadway hit, DROP DEAD PERFECT, with its star Everett Quinton and director Joe Brancato, plus the ambitious exhibition, THE HIRSCHFELD CENTURY, celebrating THE ART OF the late caricaturist Al Hirschfeld, with Hirschfeld's widow Louise Kerz Hirschfeld and the exhibition's curator and author of its companion book, David Leopold.

Axis Theatre Presents World Premiere of THE VAST MACHINE Tonight

Axis Theatre will present the world premiere of The Vast Machine, a new play written and directed by Randy Sharp about the dilemmas facing the crew of a slave ship at sea in the Middle Passage. Pig Iron Theatre Company Presents I PROMISED MYSELF TO LIVE FASTER, Now thru 5/31

Coming off a celebrated run at the 39th Annual Humana Festival of New American Plays in Louisville, Kentucky, Pig Iron Theatre Company brings the rolling World Premiere of I Promised Myself To Live Faster, home for a run at FringeArts. The show is set to run tonight, May 22, through May 31. Opening night is Saturday, May 23 at 8 p.m.

Cal Shakes' Artistic Director Jonathan Moscone Steps Down

California Shakespeare Theater Board President Jean Simpson today announced that Artistic Director Jonathan Moscone has decided to step down from his position in August 2015, after 15 years with the company. Moscone will conclude his tenure with his production of Charles Ludlam's The Mystery of Irma Vep, August 12-September 6, which will be his 22nd production for Cal Shakes. Moscone has accepted a position as the Chief of Civic Engagement with Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, and also plans to continue directing plays around the country. The Board has formed a committee to lead a nation-wide search to identify Moscone's successor, working with Gregory Kandel with Management Consultants for the Arts, Inc. as search consultants.
