This December, the acclaimed Off-Broadway Axis Theatre Company will present the 15th annual production of its beloved family holiday show, Seven in One Blow, or the Brave Little Kid. Adapted from the classic fairy tale by The Brothers Grimm, this festive, interactive winter play is written and directed by Axis Artistic Director Randy Sharp (Edgar Oliver's Attorney Street, In the Park and East 10th Street). From England's mysterious moors to the depths of an Egyptian tomb, no one is safe from the terrors of bad puns and dueling dulcimers in The Mystery of Irma Vep, a raucous parody of Victorian morals and Hollywood horror by anarchic comic genius Charles Ludlam. Be afraid, be just a little bit afraid as Triad Stage returns to the smash hit from its first season, the play that The New York Times called 'the funniest two hours anywhere.'
Audiences at Limelight's 25th season opener will be treated to a cozier, more down-home OKLAHOMA! on their intimate mainstage, but that's by design. Executive Director, Beth Lambert, who also directs this production of the landmark Pulitzer Prize-winning Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, didn't want this to be the 'show that you do to pay for the other shows in your season.' It's a show that she has always wanted to do since performing with her mother in a summer stock production when Lambert was in fifth grade. However, Lambert thought it was too large of a production for the Limelight space.
