BWW Review: CHESS, London Coliseum

Chess, by Tim Rice and ABBA's Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, hasn't had a major West End revival since its Eighties heyday, but it's back with a bang in a semi-staged production that features aerial silk acrobatics, cheerleading stunts and drunken Cossack dancing. But it's the work that really shines through: period, yes, and distinctly unwieldy, but oddly timely too - and not just because ABBA are reuniting.

Murray Head Withdraws from West End CHESS; Cedric Neal Joins Cast as 'The Arbiter'

Chess is coming back to the West End for the first time since 1986, opening at the London Coliseum on Thursday 26 April 2018 (Press night on Tuesday 1 May 2018) for a strictly limited 5 week season. The show will come without one of its previously announced cast members, however. BroadwayWorld has just learned that Murray Head has withdrawn from the production. A show representative explained:

A West End Christmas Will Raise Money for Charity December 3

The Make A Difference Trust announces its 14th annual A West End Christmas which will take place at St Paul's Church Covent Garden on Sunday 3rd December at 7.30pm. The evening will be hosted by Christopher Biggins, who will be joined by the lovely Lesley Joseph.

WaterTower Theatre Appoints Nine New Board Members and a Slate of New Executive Officers

WaterTower Theatre has announced the election of nine new Board Members, as well as a new slate of Officers. The Board voted unanimously to install the following Executive Committee Officers: President Paul Shultz, Vice President Stan Graner, Vice President Grace Daniels, Treasurer Philip Longacre, and Secretary Karol Omlor.

 Last night (21 August 2017) the legendary British athlete Mo Farah met with the West End cast of Motown the Musical having watched the hit show at the Shaftesbury Theatre.  He met with the full company of actors including Cedric Neal who plays Berry Gordy (found of the iconic record label), Lucy St Louis who plays Diana Ross and Raphael Higgins-Humes who plays Young Michael Jackson. 

MOTOWN THE MUSICAL Now Booking in the West End to January 2019

Motown the Musical has just released 500,000 new tickets for sale, taking bookings for the hit West End production into 2019 when the show will celebrate its third year in London and Motown will celebrate sixty years since the record company was founded. 

WaterTower Theatre Announces Casting and Creative Details for NATIVE GARDENS

WaterTower Theatre Artistic Director Joanie Schultz today announced casting and creative team details for the Regional Premiere of Karen Zacarias' Native Gardens, directed by David Lozano. Native Gardens will run June 2-25, 2017, in the Canterbury Family Main Stage at the Addison Theatre Centre. The cast features Stephanie Cleghorn Jasso as Tania Del Valle, Ivan Jasso as Pablo Del Valle, Lois Sonnier Hart as Virginia Butley, and John S. Davies as Frank Butley.

WaterTower Theatre Announces 2017-18 Season

Joanie Schultz, Artistic Director, today announced details of the Company's 2017-2018 Season. This season marks the first for newly appointed Artistic Director Joanie Schultz, and the 22nd for WaterTower Theatre.
